Edit: this book was somehow ever better the second time around.

I honestly believe this might be my all time favorite book and I cannot express how stressed and excited I am for the next one. Yes, the world building is a lot. My advice is to not over think it and just go with it. There are chart online that breakdown the government and power hierarchy. I just read through the world building, even the second time around, and just picked up what I could.

This book and the characters, and the banter, and the plot, and relationship development, and unique ideas and just all of it is so good I honestly can’t find other words than that. I cried so hard but loved every second.

Bury me with this book, I will hear no slander about it. 10/10, unmatched.

That ending… Oh my god. I had to wait 12 hours to write this review because if I wrote it right after I finished it would have just been literal screaming, which is exactly what I did when I was reading the last chapter. I am still not ok. Avoid spoilers for this book at all costs because the ending oh my god. Sarah is a queen.

I was leaning more towards 4 stars but after the last chapter I had to give it 5. Honestly, the amount of times that this book made me audibly gasp and say oh my god makes it deserve 5 stars.

I feel like I liked the first book more and at time this one kinda fell a little flat. The first book was just a rollercoaster of emotions and I couldn’t put it down. This one was extremely important and a ton of stuff happened, but it kinda felt like a giant set up for the 3rd book but I’m honestly ok with that. I am constantly surprised by Sarah’s writing and how I was constantly shocked during this book. It’s long and dense but I loved it.

My chest hurts, I don’t know if I’ve ever been this excited for anything in my life. I need the next book immediately.

I absolutely loved book one and have been dying for this book to come out. These books are Tessa Baileys best books for sure.

I would have DNF’d if I was able to return the book, but since I couldn’t I finished it. It was just kinda weird. It felt like the author wrote fanfic about herself and published it in a book. Characters didn’t have a lot of development and the book as a whole was just meh.

3.5-4. Better than from blood and ash.

This was super cute and really funny. I read the first two chapter then got busy, but when I finally picked it back up again I finished it in one day because I couldn’t put it down.

Highly recommend if you like second chance romances and characters that are actually funny

Cute but super cheesy. Great anxiety/social anxiety representation and a great concept but the cheesiness was almost too much.
