DNF after 50 pages and immediately returning to the store. Never has a book needed an editor so badly. Omfg I can’t. In the first 4 chapters there was 4 separate stare downs for LITERALLY NO REASON AND NO EXPLANATION WAS GIVEN! I should have known this was going to be bad when a few pages in the author described the main guys hair as something like “Hair so dark blond it was dark brown”. I want to scream and send her an invoice for my time.

4ish stars. This was substantially better than the first book, but it still felt a little too insta love. The characters were just started to get to know each other and then were at 100. The “twist” was kinda weird and felt super extra. But aside from that it was good. Knox and Memphis were super cute. I read it within a day so I wasn’t bored.

I am struggling with how to rate this book. I have so many mixed emotions towards it and feel like 3 stars is not enough but 4 is also too many.

Let’s start with the bad. Right out the gate I was bored. The characters are supposed to be like 30 but the way they acted made them seem so immature and it was super annoying. I almost DNF’d the book after like 60 pages because every time they would talk they were using each other’s name in like every sentence. No. One. Talks. Like. That. It felt super unnatural and I was going insane. It took me 5 days to pick the book back up and get back into it after the first 100 because I was just not into it. Oh also, Cronut you? CRIMINALLY CRINGY.
There were a lot of grammatical errors that I am shocked an editor didn’t catch. It felt like it went on FOREVER at some parts. Like the author needs to please fire her editor or actually get one because oh my god. As the story went on the characters continued to be immature so when the first

Helena does a great job of writing books that you don’t want to put down. This was a cute, rivals to lovers, rom com. Made me want to eat cupcakes the entire time

It’s was ok. It was an easy read and I read it super fast. Second chance romance is a superior trope and I was so excited about that aspect, but it fell a little flat. Even with their history, it still felt like it moved way too fast. And the reasoning behind everything seemed kinda outlandish and just eh. And then throwing that at the ending just kinda made it too out there. It’s one of those books I read super fast and for the most part enjoyed, but I could not tell you much about what happened because it just wasn’t memorable.

Eh. It was fine

Not my fav from the bunch but I still read it in under a day. Kinda disappointed with the way Fitz ended up being but overall I still loved it

These books are basically crack

It has potential. But the 2 atrocious third act breakups due to miscommunication were just the worst.
