The first 70% was 4 stars. The last 30% was like 2.5. It went from interesting to cringe so fast. There were a few lines that Nessa said that made me audibly gag. Super fast read, I was fully invested. I wish Sophie would take out a few of the cringy ass lines.

4.5 This was not at all what I expected. Absolutely loved the writing. It never felt slow and kept my attention the whole time. Literally loved it after the first few pages. It is definitely a romance but it deals with a lot of real like issues like health problems, family problems, grief, etc. and those parts feel like they flow with the storyline instead of hurt it like I’ve seen in other books.

I think I enjoyed the first part of the book more mainly because it was more lighthearted. I was absolutely crushed in the second half of this book and did not expect it to be so emotional. Really really wish that part didn’t happen but I’m buying the spin-off because I have to know more. So be warned this isn’t going to be super lighthearted, there is some heavy stuff.

Overall I loved this book. It wasn’t what I expected at all going into it but I read it in 24 hours and actually woke up early to read it before work.

3.5. I was fully invested. Not as cringy as the previous book. Fast paced and doesn’t require much brain power to get through. However, the author talks about c*m entirely too much in her books. Like stop it.

DNF. This is absolutely terrible

This was so good, I am like struggling to write a review. The banter and communication was 10/10. Huxley is a top tier fictional man. The bar is so high now. I am unwell.

4-4.5. This was actually really good. It’s like a better executed version of from blood and ash. So, like actually good. Super predictable, and there were a few parts that I felt like could have been better developed. Some characters back stories and things like that. But overall it was good and I’ll definitely read the next one.

This was an awful end to this series. Honestly, I’m wondering if I read different books than all the people who hyped this up so much.

Entirely too insta love and hardly any character development. to the point that if either character died, I would have been totally fine with it. So cringy, I had to skip the spicy scenes because just, no. One part made me feel physically ill after reading. I feel generous giving it 2 stars, because the entire time I read this I wanted it to be over.

I did appreciate how since it was a mafia book, it actually focused on the mafia unlike the atrocity that was the previous book.

However, it made Sebastian look weak and naïve. It completely ruined his character. And honestly it ruined some of the other characters a little as well. I kinda didn’t like Dante after his god awful book, but this made me like him even less.

The only good thing about it was the characters from the first few books being in it. Honestly, I wish I stopped reading after the 3rd book because it was just downhill from there.

I will be giving Sophie one more chance and reading the kingmakers series because the set up in the epilogue made it sound actually good. I have super low expectations though.

This is really great if you into a mafia book with a super small mafia subplot and a BDSM cowboy who likes to be called daddy. However, I absolutely am not. I almost DNF’d after the first sex scene for use of horse ropes and whips that felt very over the top. I had to start skipping the spicy scenes because I could not handle the absolute ick I got from them. I only read this because I’ve committed to the series at this point, but my god it just seems to get worse. Giving it an extra star due to the big reveal scene being very well done and it was nice to see what characters from the previous books are up to.
