2-2.5. Over all it wasn’t bad. The idea was super cool but i just feel like it wasn’t executed very well. The characters weren’t unique and were predictable. The first half was so slow I almost wanted to DNF. But the second half did pick up. I just really wasn’t invested in the characters or the plot. It was just meh and the pacing was rough. Everyone says this book is the worst in the series though so I will give the next one another try.
For the most part I enjoyed this. I really wasn’t that invested in miles and Zoe because the side characters and development of Cat was way more interesting. I would give the main story 3 stars but adding a star for all the side characters and I looooved the twists at the end.
3.5. Didn’t give everything I was expecting with people saying it was their fav book of the year. But, not too shabby. It was fast paced, filled with so much drama, and super cheesy. Like this book isn’t really good but enjoyable at the same time. I wouldn’t re read it, but I was invested. A guy in his 40’s who “doesn’t want to settle down” is such an ick though.
3.5. It was cute but super predictable. A little slow at times but also super sweet.
This was one of the only thrillers I’ve read, and i loved it. It had a heavy romantic subplot that’s the only reason I read it. It was a thriller but more of a murder mystery. It wasn’t so thrilled that I was super stressed, just super interested. 10/10 for the romance subplot.
You know a book is good when it’s full of tropes you hate but is still so goooood
Struggling between 3 and 3.5. This has so much potential but was so disappointing. But all the side characters and some really solid moments saved it. But overall still kinda disappointing.
4 stars for enjoyment and binge ability.
3 stars for writing and plot.
It is super unoriginal and one of those books that if you analyze too closely you’ll probably realize it’s not that good. But the vibes are here and i feel like it’s scratching the ACOTAR itch just a little, tiny bit. It did get better the further into the book I got. It’s got all the tropes in a way that feels like the author was purposefully trying to make sure it had a bunch of the tropes that she knows people love. Like it isn’t that good but the vibes are good so I’m was fully invested and kinda loving it. The world building wasn’t overly complicated and I never felt like I was bored.
Biggest complaints are the MC’s felt younger at times. She is 20 so that fit but I guess it just had more YA vibes in the beginning. That did start to get better towards the end though. She was so naïve and it was kinda annoying but it made sense with her character so I was able to get passed that. Honestly, if I think about it much more I might start to like it less so. it was fun and I read it fast and I would recommend if you’re someone who is down for a fun read that doesn’t require much critical thought.

3.5. This is definitely high fantasy so the world building and different languages can be a lot at times. Fallon drove me nuts on many occasions but i was able to get passed it. This whole book probably could have been a lot shorter,
Especially with the first 50%. However, I feel like it set up something really cool so I’ll keep going with the series.
