3. I just know I would have enjoyed this book so much more if isn’t wasnt in 3rd person
2.5 The author was trying super hard to be funny and it was very much not and just super cringy. I felt like not a lot was actually happening for the first half but the second half of the book was kinda cute. Nothing special but a fast paced read that was pretty lame but I’ve read worse.
4.5 stars. I was going to give it 5, but that decision in the last 100 pages was lameeeeee. But I loved being back with the off campus characters. These books are impossible to put down.
How can a book that’s this long have such poor relationship development. The MC’s had 0 chemistry. This was 80% miscommunication, 15% romance, and 5% renovations. Oh and the plot was basically just not being able to communicate properly. It was so blanddddd and I just did not care about any of these characters. It’s so disappointing with how much I loved Final Offer. The only part I really liked were the like 5 sentences of Rafa interacting with his Nanny. Their book better be next.
4. This was like a remix of 13 going on 30 and it was a really amazing pallet cleanser read. Instead of going forward in time it was like a different reality. I spent my entire evening reading this and couldn’t put it down.
3-3.5. It wasn’t bad but I feel like I just wasn’t in the mood for this type of book. It was cute but kinda slow in the beginning.
Most of this book was fairly uninteresting but the end set up the second book to seem like it’ll actually be really good so I’ll continue with the series
2.5-3. The beginning started off strong but it kind of went downhill from there. There were some good parts but overall it feels like not that much actually happens? Like it was long but it was mostly the FMC and MMC trying to do different things and failing and then almost getting together but then not. But at the same time some of it was good but I really couldn’t tell you which parts of why.
Sooo much internal monologue. I usually prefer more character driven books but honestly both characters were starting to get annoying. And the whiplash of saying one thing but then changing their mind but then changing their mind back and it’s like ok enough. Also inmate just simply cannot be the nickname he gives her. Like please.
The premise is interesting and I’ll probably read the next one but just overall meh. If I didn’t read it for free on KU I would have felt like it was probably a waste of money. Also the flashback chapters were the worst part.

Character/relationship development is crucial in a dark book like this and there was definitely not enough. Now, I did enjoy the main premise. 2 rival famous and wealthy artists who are also psychopaths and actual murderers and like have a twisted rivalry. Great, sounds like a really interesting and messed up book. Add in the element of psychopath Cole developing an obsession with Mara because he doesn’t feel normal human emotions and can’t figure out why he’s so drawn to her. Ok super unique. But man the development after that was lack luster.
I often found myself uncomfortable. I have read a decent amount of dark books and never had any issues, but this one was just a lot. The main reason being that there seemed to be like hardly any character development/relationship development. The MC goes from this man left me to die and was possibly the one who kidnapped me and tried to kill me, to I’m into this man in .5 second without confirming that he wasn’t the one who did that to her. I wanted to scream at the lack of brains on this woman.
Again, totally get it’s a dark romance, but this book would have been a million times better if Mara had time to confirm that Cole wasn’t the one who tried to kill her and actually start to build trust with him. Most dark romances at least have an element of trust between the characters and there was like 0 for this one. Also the consent lines were suuuuper blurred at times and literally all of that would have been fixed if there was an actual personal relationship between the characters and some trust.
Also MARA DO YOUR LAUNDRY LIKE WTF
I will be reading the second one because I’m told it gets better. But this is def one of those books I wish I kept on my kindle instead of my bookshelf
