This was such a breath of fresh air clean heart clenching romance. Grumpy girl bodyguard and charming silly golden boy movie star friends to lovers. I genuinely died laughing in more than a few parts and I love them. Jack is just perfection. I loved Hannah and Jack together and their relationship was just tied perfectly at the end.
“When you’re not around, even for a little while, I feel like I have to go find you. I just feel this pull to be near you. I want to know what you’re thinking, and what you’re up to, and how you feel. I want to take you places and show you things. I want to memorize you—to learn you like a song. And that nightgown, and the way you get so cranky when I leave my stuff all over the place, and the way you tie your hair back in that crazy bun. You make me laugh every single day—and nobody makes me laugh. I feel like I’ve been lost all my life until now—and somehow with you I’m just … found.”

SO CUTE!!! I love Nathan so much and all the D&D culture aspects. I am not a theater kid by any means but Riley was cute, that is just not my niche. I enjoyed the vibes overall and Nathan was just so adorable ugh. I loved the found family and general friendships of the characters so much. Tropes: nice guy, fake dating and coming of age mostly.
“I decided having something fake with you was better than having nothing at all. I would have faked it forever rather than give you up.”

“Hello, Little Bird. Come to stab me again?”
I love the personification of death as a character/love interest so much, SO MUCH. This story was lush in imagery and I loved the world. Signa is such a strong and interesting character. The whole concept of her being a reaper and immune to death is so cool . The opening chapter/prologue was instantly interesting. I would have also have folded for death, I AM JUST BEING REAL. Death literally had me giggling and twirling my hair. He was so poetically dark and beautiful. The entire mystery and general vibes were so misty and steeped in flavorful imagery. This is for a specific type of person and that person is me. People complain about someone literally as old as time with someone who is barely an adult and I know it's problematic but why are they usually so good? DONT QUOTE ME. Signa and Death are my favorite snarky eternally fated couple.
“Your name is no curse, Little Bird. I just like the taste of it”
“To me, you are a song to a soul that has never known music. Light to someone who has only seen the darkness. You bring out the absolute worst in me, and I become vindictive toward those who treat you in ways I don’t care for. Yet you also bring out the best in me—I want to be better because of you. Better for you.”
“Because I have waited an eternity to meet you, Signa Farrow.”
“And at other times you are an endless annoyance. Always, though, you are a fascination”
“I have waited for you for millennia, Signa Farrow.” There was a silky husk to his voice now, too pleased for his own good. “Since the dawn of this earth, I have waited. You are mine, and I am yours. And together, this world is ours.”

elementary school kids panicking over the discovery of mystical creatures and running around in a panic. a favorite genre of mine. I love anything Holly Black touches, I am a simple girl. Obviously it can't compete with the originals but I am glad Jared made a cameo.
