i was obsessed with the secret circle show on the cw and I wanted to revisit the storyline but wow it’s so different. In a fun way. L.J Smith series are SO different from the show adaptations but i was happily surprised. the witchy stuff is so fun. It was a bit boring though.

Every word touched my soul. I love Gus and January so much.
“When I watch you sleep," he said shakily, "I feel overwhelmed that you exist.”
“I’ve never met someone who is so perfectly my favorite person.”
“If you think the story has a sad ending, it's because it's not over yet.”
“He fit so perfectly in the love story I'd imagined for myself that I mistook him for the love of my life.”
“And that was the moment I realized: when the world felt dark and scary, love could whisk you off to go dancing; laughter could take some of the pain away; beauty could punch holes in your fear. I decided then that my life would be full of all three.”
“When you love someone,” he said haltingly, “. . . you want to make this world look different for them. To give all the ugly stuff meaning, and amplify the good. That’s what you do. For your readers. For me. You make beautiful things, because you love the world, and maybe the world doesn’t always look how it does in your books, but . . . I think putting them out there, that changes the world a little bit. And the world can’t afford to lose that.”

I love this story. I was hooked from the beginning.
“Everything’s a game, Avery Grambs. The only thing we get to decide in this life is if we play to win.”
“Nothing is certain but death and taxes.”
“why kill two birds with one stone when you can kill twelve”
“It would be shame," Jameson commented, "if we were related.”

I loved every minute of this. It’s lighthearted and adorable. I’m impressed since YA isn’t usually my thing but I was hooked and happy reading this. I'm ordering the rest of the series as we speak. An adorable and summery read that will keep you smiling. I shed a few tears at the end though…
“In the dark you can feel really close to a person. You can say whatever you want.”
“I wondered if this was the way old crushes died, with a whimper, slowly, and then, just like that—gone.”

I’m so impressed by TJR! I really enjoyed this.
“How were you supposed to change- in ways both big and small- when your family was always there to remind you of exactly the person you apparently signed an ironclad contract to be?”
“Just because it is in Malibu's nature to burn, so was it in one particular person's nature to set fire and walk away.”
“Must be nice. To be able to be weak. I wouldn’t know.”
“She was a woman, after all. Living in a world created by men. And she had long known that assholes protect their own. They are faithful to no one but surprisingly protective of each other.”
“There’s no room for you in my life anymore. And I don’t owe it to you to make any space.”
“Nina didn’t hate Carrie Soto for stealing her husband because husbands can’t be stolen. Carrie Soto wasn’t a thief; Brandon Randall was a traitor.”
