Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole

It was good! Despite a lot of the secrets that people had were a little predictable for me but I still want to know what else is going on. I know there’s still like 3 other books in this series to get the overall story told and it being a first book in a fantasy series I felt like it kinda dragged to get to the big dramatic ending. I’ll come back in a week or 2 after reading the second book and I’ll have a completely different outlook soooo who am I to judge lolol

Did not finish book. Stopped at 18%.

I think I’ve moved on from this story. It just didn’t spark joy for me like the first three books did. Nothing bad, just not what I was interested in. 

The Songbird & the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent

Mische is such a beautiful and kind person and I loved learning more about her past and her history with Atroxus. As someone who did not grow up following a faith, I loved seeing Mische’s struggle with being rejected by her faith yet wanting to be accepted by that same faith. Her and Asar’s relationship was also beautiful and Asar might be my new favorite love interest in the series (there’s only 2 so far tho lol). I’m so excited for the next book because THAT ENDING?!

Tbh I just lost the thrill of this story. It could just be right book wrong time and life is too short to push through a book that doesn’t bring me joy and/or excitement 

Sinful Demon King by Nikki St. Crowe

I think this was more of a bad timing for this book because I was anticipating a book release and was in a little slump. I stepped away from this once the other book was finally released and I came back to it and finished. It was still an interesting concept and the book ended on a big enough cliffhanger that I’m down to give the third a try. And it’s already released so I can just get to it. 

Ruthless Demon King by Nikki St. Crowe

Tbh I picked this up because I needed something quick inbetween 2 larger fantasy books and I’ve enjoyed Nikki St. Crowe in the past. This was nothing that blew me away but the concept of Wrath was interesting enough to keep be into it and want to read the second book. 

Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros

This is my second time reading Iron Flame in preparation for Onyx Storm. I will say that this was more enjoyable as a re read because I knew to block out the  broken record of Vi and Xaden having the same argument the ENTIRE book. 

Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros

Rebecca Yarros got her spark back because this was such a different vibe from Iron Flame and for the better! Is it perfect? Obviously not but it was very enjoyable and setting us up for what’s to come in the last two books.
