I’m gonna be honest, at first I wasn’t sure why so many ppl recommended this one. It got a bit slow for a moment, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, yknow? That twist that keeps things interesting in an Agatha Christie novel. It took a minute to get there but man, when it did get there, it did not let up. The last 50 pages I was zooming through, I refused to put it down. And I get it now. Why people love it so much and highly recommended it. WHAT an ending. What a reveal.

I, too, am a crying man at the end of this book.

This book is a LOT. And it is amazing. It’s part time-travel, part romance, part drama, part mystery, part thriller. It’s got a good bit of everything in there. I deff wanted more mystery, for a good chunk of the book it just leaves, but it’s okay cause what you do get makes up for it. It’s a heartwarming and heartbreaking book about history and prevailing love. With a cool little time travel plot tied around it. This book is truly something everyone could love and should probably be read at least once in your life time.

This was also my first ever Stephen King novel so no clue how it compares to his other stories but I pretty consistently hear this is his best one. I can see why.

Just a bunch of short stories. It’s cute, it’s fun. It’s nothing to write home about. The comedy in her books is always under appreciated. Most people don’t realize that her and her characters are actually quite funny. That’s probably the best part of this book. They’re very charming.

Woof. This was the hardest Poirot/Christie book to get through so far. It reads like a bunch of short stories half linked together. And Agatha Christie is unfortunately not very good at short stories. This weird international spy thriller was an interesting next step for Poirot, unfortunately it was also the wrong one. Hopefully we stay firmly in the murder mystery genre bc this definitely was not it.
An especially hard read when it comes right after The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, which is easily one of her best novels. Will be happy to move on from this one and read the next so I can get this bad taste out of my mouth. How disappointing :/

Uuuuuuuhhhhhhhh

Wtf was this book ??? I had no clue what I was going into, not a single idea what it was about. And it blew my mind. It’s hard Sci-fi and it can get a little muddled at times with all the scientific theories and information being thrown at you. But it’s not really important. The point is it’s based in real, thought-out ideas and that it’s GOOD. The plot had me on the edge of my seat and my heart racing. This book is not for everyone but if it’s yours, trust that you’ll love it. I cannot wait to finish this series.

This is definitely one of Agatha Christie’s best works. First Poirot without Hastings which is different but refreshing and needed. And this book is another great example of when she said “anyone can be a murderer”. This and Crooked House (and even And Then There Were None) prove this very well.

What a good book. What an amazing reveal. To make you care so much (to trust!!) for a character and then…. Wow.

Not her best work, not my favorite of hers, but still a solid one. It’s fun watching her writing get better through the series. This is also the first Poirot book written in third person rather than first person which is interesting. Not necessarily good or bad, just different. However, because of that it does take over a quarter of the book to finally meet Poirot in this one. He’s a funny little man and I like seeing him a bit more in his books. You can also see Agatha Christie develop the idea for Murder on the Orient Express and how it came to her. This is like a precursor, a warm up for her. Very excited to read it.

I did NOT finish this before the coffee got cold.

This book was… well boring. It’s a short book and yet still has too many pages. A lot of times I feel like I’m reading the same thing over and over again. Some of it is just too repetitive. I would stop reading mid chapter because they were longer and boring. Nothing to keep me wanting to read. The thing that’s gives this that second star is that the last story kinda tugged at my heartstrings ngl.

I was honestly so excited for a cute little time traveling story and this was very underwhelming and disappointing.

Solid Agatha Christie. Not her best work, but not bad. I like how Poirot genuinely struggles with this one. Makes it feel like I’m truly learning at the same time he is rather than him just waiting to say it at the end for shits and giggles.
