This short story was a delightful dive into the lives of characters I already love.
Kai’s journey—his rigorous training and the trauma inflicted by his father—made me care for him deeply. His resilience is remarkable, and I found myself rooting for him even more.

Adena’s lively and infectious spirit was equally touching, though it left me with a bittersweet ache, knowing what her future holds. Seeing her shine in this story was both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
I practically squealed with excitement. Moments like this remind me how beautifully interconnected these characters’ stories are and leave me excited for the 3rd and final book because I know there are more connections to be made!
Festive Plagues is a meaningful addition to Lauren Roberts' universe. It adds depth to characters I already cherish and leaves me eager for more glimpses into their lives.
Personal Tip: To fully appreciate Festive Plagues, I'd say read it after Powerless and Powerful, as this allows the lore of the trilogy and character connections to resonate more deeply

This was a heartfelt read with some truly beautiful moments, but it didn’t completely win me over.
Let’s start with Bo—he’s the ultimate golden retriever of a love interest! His warmth, patience, and dedication to Win are swoon-worthy, and their relationship had its moments of depth. I also appreciated the core message of the story about healing, found family, and self-discovery.
That said, there were some things that didn’t quite resonate with me.
While the romance had a sweet build-up, it felt rushed at times and leaned too heavily on physical attraction—did we really need a mention of Win’s chest every time? I was also left wanting more resolution when it came to
Overall, Out on a Limb is a good story with a good message, but it left me with mixed feelings. I enjoyed the ride, but there were moments that held me back from giving it a higher rating. If you’re looking for a feel-good story with a sprinkle of emotional depth, this might be a great pick for you!

As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow is an extraordinary story that has left a permanent imprint on my heart. From the very first page, this book transported me into the devastating yet resilient world of Salama, a young woman forced to become a doctor at 18 amidst the Syrian revolution. The horrors she endures and the lives she touches are both haunting and inspiring.
The writing is nothing short of breathtaking—filled with quotes that demand to be highlighted and remembered. The author has a remarkable ability to capture the rawness of grief, the fleeting moments of joy, and the enduring power of hope. Salama and Kenan’s love story amidst the chaos is both heartbreaking and uplifting, a reminder of humanity’s ability to find light even in the darkest times.
This book also made me deeply reflect on the privileges I often take for granted. It serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by those in Syria, Palestine, Yemen, and many more places where oppression and war persist (I fail to know all and if I had to begin to list all I think it would never end, because humanity has forgotten the most basic of human rights)
This book is not a story of fiction, but one based on reality... It’s a call to educate ourselves, to feel, and to empathize.

I plan to revisit this book when I get my hands on a physical copy—one I know I’ll treasure. I also feel compelled to dive deeper into the history of Syria to better understand the realities that inspired this novel. This is more than a story; it’s an experience, a lesson, and a call to action.

This book takes the Harry Potter series to a deeper, darker, and more thrilling level. It introduces a mix of intriguing characters, mysterious connections, and magical surprises that keep you hooked from start to finish.
The pacing strikes a great balance between action, emotional depth, and the whimsical magic of the wizarding world. As always, the friendships and adventures are a joy to read, but this book also offers a more mature tone that hints at the complexities of Harry's world and the challenges he’ll face ahead.
The magical elements introduced here are some of my favorites in the series, adding new layers to Hogwarts life. Whether you're revisiting or diving in for the first time, this story is both nostalgic and exhilarating, with plenty to enjoy for readers of all ages.

While I appreciated the dark and atmospheric setting of Victorian London, Stalking Jack the Ripper fell a bit short for me. Audrey Rose Wadsworth, the FMC, had so much potential as a trailblazing young woman fascinated by forensic science, but her detective skills often felt lacking. It was frustrating at times to see her miss obvious clues or make questionable choices during the investigation.
Thomas Cresswell, on the other hand, was the saving grace of this book. His sharp intellect, dry humor, and chemistry with Audrey Rose brought some much-needed intrigue and charm to the story. Without him, I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much.
The murder mystery aspect was engaging enough, though some twists felt predictable. Overall, it’s worth a read if you’re into dark historical fiction with a touch of romance, but don’t expect a deeply complex whodunit.

Immortality: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz
This sequel took me on quite the ride, but it left me with mixed feelings. The historical and anatomical elements that I loved in Anatomy: A Love Story were still there, but the mystery felt incomplete. Some major threads didn’t tie up as satisfyingly as I hoped, and there seemed to be a lack of real consequences for characters like Dr. Beechman and the Companions of Death , which made the stakes feel less significant.
When it comes to Hazel and Jack, I was disappointed by the shift in their relationship. What felt layered and romantic in the first book seemed to veer into being more lust-driven here. Honestly, I found myself rooting for Dr. Ferris! His witty banter and genuine connection with Hazel stood out in contrast.
That said, the writing is still engaging, and I appreciated the themes of anatomy and mortality. If you’re invested in Hazel’s story, it’s worth the read, but I couldn’t help but feel like the series could’ve delivered a stronger conclusion.

Dana Schwartz weaves a captivating tale of ambition, forbidden romance, and the grim realities of 19th-century Edinburgh in Anatomy: A Love Story. Hazel Sinnett, a fiercely independent young woman with dreams of becoming a surgeon, defies societal expectations in a world where women are relegated to traditional roles. Her journey intertwines with Jack Currer, a resourceful resurrection man, and together they uncover secrets lurking in the city's shadows...
The historical setting felt super immersive, especially all the details about early medicine (it gets descriptive in parts, but personally I love hearing and learning about the anatomy of the human body so this didn't bother me!). Hazel’s character is headstrong, determined, and doesn’t let anything stop her which is why the ending just seemed to take a complete 180 turn for her character. I just didn't see Hazel sacrificing her dreams and aspirations for Jack since their love story was rushed and also the build up to the exam fell flat since she just ended up missing it when that was the main plot of the book . The romance wasn’t the focus, but it added just enough heart to balance out the darker elements (keep in mind this is not a romance novel, nor a slow burn!)
While the concept and characters were compelling, some plot developments felt abrupt or overly convenient, lessening the impact of the story’s central mysteries. Additionally, the pacing occasionally felt rushed, leaving certain moments under-explored.
All in all Anatomy: A Love Story is a striking mix of gothic intrigue and feminist empowerment, making it a gripping read for those who love historical fiction with a dark, romantic twist and it will leave you eagerly anticipating the sequel, Immortality: A Love Story.
P.S. If you've watched the TV series - The Artful Dodger - and are a fan of that show this book will definitely be a good read!

Before I begin please check trigger warnings for this book and don't go into it expecting a light summer read!
Also I would recommend reading the 1st book in this interconnected series - Part of your world - as the plot does eventually relate back. I did not and while you can make inferences I think it would have made my reading experience even better. Reading the 2nd book in the series - Yours, Truly - is not necessary but would better your reading experience as those characters do make an appearance in this novel
Now onto the review!
I absolutely loved this book Finished it in a day and became completely attached to the characters. The author took her time in understanding all the issues and discussions that were brought up in this book and had so many little metaphors that related to the characters!
The found family is something I was looking for, for a long time and "Just for the summer" did not disappoint. From Emma's best friend Maddy (with her hard truths), to Justin's friends (who constantly turn up for him), to Justin's siblings - you really realize that sometimes family is the people you choose. This aspect was honestly something I enjoyed about the book and it made me tear up especially whenJustin's friends show up for him after his mum has gone to prison and just know how to be there for him and take care of him when he's busy taking care of everyone else. . Another heartwarming aspect is how Emma became apart of Justin's family so easily - like she perfectly belonged there and the way her and Sarah's relationship just grew with time!
I will admit Emma will frustrate you, but that all comes down to her past and when you understand why she behaves the way she does you build empathy for her more than any other character (always choose empathy)
Justin is the epitome of (as Maddy put it) - If he wanted to he would. His type A eldest sibling personality is something I could definitively identify with as an eldest sibling myself. His need to put others before himself, to take care of everyone, to always readily be available - to be the docking station. His humor and banter is the best and honestly built the romance and chemistry for this book and if your love language is acts of service you'll love Justin. I know I did ;)
What I'm basically trying to get at is don't go into this book expecting a rom - com or romance. It's a layered story with layered characters and plot developments that you can't fully appreciate if you go into this expecting a whirlwind romance
As Justin says“The love stories sold us the wrong thing. The best kind of love doesn’t happen on moonlit walks and romantic vacations. It happens in between the folds of everyday life. It’s not grand gestures that show how you feel, it’s all the little secret things you do to make her life better that you never tell her about. Taking the end piece of the bread at breakfast so she can have the last middle piece for her sandwich when you pack her lunch. Making sure her car always has gas so she never has to stop at the pump. Telling her you’re not cold and to take your jacket when you are in fact, very, very cold. It’s watching TV on a rainy Sunday while you’re doing laundry and turning her light off when she’s fallen asleep reading. Sharing pizza crusts and laughing about something the kids did and taking care of each other when you’re sick. It isn’t glamorous, it isn’t all butterflies and stars in your eyes. It’s real. This is the kind of love that forever is made of. Because if it’s this good when life is draining and mundane and hard, think of how wonderful it will be when the love songs are playing and the moon is out.”
P.S. If you get your hands on a copy that has the authors book club questions at the end I would highly recommend you give that a read. It makes you appreciate the work the author put into this story as well as appreciate the characters and their journey through this book. The author also lets us in on some Easter eggs she left in the book :)

Took me forever to get into this book - mostly because I was not in the mood for a thriller but also rhe writing kept throwing me off since its written from Emmas POV and the "book" being written about her murder
The ending is what gripped me although I saw each and every plot twist that came with this book (believe there's enough to write 3 different books)
All in all a good read if you're looking for a horror kind of thriller with lots of twists and turns, that are dark and twisted in nature, but also has a unique way of telling the story ;)
Just didn't surprise me and personally felt like it was too long.
