this book is what fantasy enemies to lovers is really all about. this was the blueprint. but i also loved how if this book had no romance it would still be amazing. if it had no fantasy. it would still be amazing. every element was so strong on its own but together? together it was legendary. i cannot wait for book 2!!!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 19%.
i think the author just tried maybe a little too hard to be funny? there wasn’t much character development and the story kind of got lost behind all the little jokes.

I love the story and the plot line, i think it had so much potential, but the flow and the pacing threw me off. I felt very confused and like i was having whiplash with the female main characters change in emotions. it felt choppy and repetitive. i also didn’t feel much chemistry between the main characters. their romance came out of nowhere.

but. i enjoyed the mystery aspect and this was a quick read! I would be interested in trying some of her future books!

i fell in love with nikki paynes writing when i read pride and protest and this book made me remember why. she has a knack for building lovable characters in a relatable world. People that look like me and think like me and FEEL LIKE ME. this book was a call to arms, a love note, and a SNL skit all in one. Loved every single second of it!
