4.5

This book was a fun, fast read. I was surprised on its lower rating. I loved learning about a new town/area that we haven’t traveled to as well as the mystery behind the sea creature and murders. Morgan and her quirky store as well as her employees were easy to fall in love with over the course of the book. The twists and turns were unexpected and at times thrilling. I can't wait to see what Morgan gets into next.

I really enjoyed this one. This book was a fast read and I was expecting one outcome and got a surprise at the end. It was one of those wait a minute, huh? It definitely had me thinking and wondering.

I really enjoyed this book. I got serious Matilda vibes from Elizabeth and even Mad. I found myself rooting for Elizabeth in each trial she encountered. I love how she and Calvin met as well as the chemistry between them. I also really enjoyed her thought process and the way science was used to do everyday things. If you want a lighthearted read that will run you through all of your emotions this is it. You will laugh, cry, get angry and more. Also, you will fall in love with the sweet dog named Six-Thirty.

You can't go wrong with a Harlan Coben novel. This one was a fast paced thrill ride. I couldn't put it down once I got started. I don't want to give any of it away but you are definitely going for a wild ride with this story.

This is my first book by Ruth Ware and I enjoyed it. There were a few spots that I felt the plot drug along and could have been picked up a bit. I also struggled at times with the UK English/grammar. She did an amazing job keeping me hanging by a thread. The ending was a shocker as well, didn't expect that outcome at all!

Pam Jenoff might be my new favorite author! The research and time she puts into her novels shows in the characters as well as the plot. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the story. The bravery, gut and determination in these women was inspirational. You will find yourself in their shoes feeling every raw emotion.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 25%.
This doesn't happen much for me but I couldn't finish this book. I got about 6 or so chapters in but it wasn't for me at all. I thought it would be mystery, history and a story about the Seance society. I got a lot of rambling from a man on the background of the society (boring rambling). The other part that annoyed me was the heavy focus on Lenna's love life with another woman in the story. I just couldn't get past those parts of the story, not for me.

A beautifully written historical fiction novel set in the time of WW2. It follows the path of Viv and her daughter Maggie. Maggie is sent to the country as part of the Pied Piper project. She was supposed to be safe!
I was captivated from the beginning with Viv's courage and determination to take care of her daughter. There is a beautiful element of forgiveness as well as learning to love despite differences. Julia Kelly did a beautiful job with her research and knowledge of the time period as well as creating characters that you will fall in love with and some you may dislike.

I am not sure what I thought of this book. I read it in one sitting but the jumping of the timeline was a bit confusing at first. The entitled adults were obnoxious but I hung on to figure out how it was all going to tie together. It was a decent thrill with some twists and turns. 3.5 stars for a decent thriller aspect.
The Golden Spoon by Jessa Maxwell

Jessa Maxwell's debut novel is British bake off meets clue! A group shows up at a gorgeous mansion in Vermont ready to participate in a baking competition. There are 7 points of view in the story, the 6 bakers and the host Betsy Martin.

The development of the characters sucked you in quickly. I did feel it was a little slow at first. Once you get past the initial introduction of characters, you are hooked. There is mystery, friendship, quirks and so much more that make you fall in love with the characters (some more than others). The house itself is full of mystery and scandal as well. The twists at the ending keep you guessing and wanting more. Excellent first novel.
