This was a really quick and fun romance! I really enjoyed the discussions around class differences, mental health, and cancer. I enjoyed getting to see these two characters grow into themselves and take control of their lives!

This was such a cute romance that made me feel all of the feels! However, this book was just way too long. 600 pages (no matter how good) is just way too long for a romance.

Another amazing feminist book that packs a punch and doesn’t hold back!
I really enjoyed the audiobook and getting to listen to this author tell her story.

This volume was ok. I'm interested enough to continue in the series, but this first volume was a bit confusing. Not a lot of answers and a lot of back-and-forth.

This is a new favorite!
This is such a strange, weird little book, and it was exactly what I wanted! It's definitely a win for the weird book girlies!

I picked up this book because I kept seeing rave reviews about it. And I saw so many people say that this author was great at writing female characters, but imo, this book sucked at doing that. Since I was on the lookout for these "great female characters", I was disappointed to realize that there's no POV from a woman until Part 2. And she's barely in the story!! The only woman prevalent in the story was treated horribly, and overall, how women were handled in this book made me hate it.
I definitely won't be continuing the series and I probably won't pick anything else up by this author.

I read this book for my Feminist Reads Project, and I'm so glad this was on the list!
As someone who's new to learning about abolition, I think this did a great job of explaining and teaching about it. I would highly recommend this book, especially for a book club because I think really great conversations could come from it.

I've been looking for this in YA fantasy for years now!! A modern, diverse fantasy that touches on "political", social, and cultural topics while showing teenagers as actual teenagers and not a watered-down version.
This book has so many layers to it that I loved! I don't read YA much anymore, but this a series that I'll definitely be continuing. If you're looking for a new YA fantasy to get sucked into, this one would be perfect! I read it all in one day and never wanted to put it down!

The pacing of this book is very rocky. And the male love interest wasn’t someone I was rooting for.
I feel like if the relationship didn’t start in the first chapter, but took some time to build up, there’d have been more tension. I also feel like this book could’ve been a good 100 pages shorter.
The first book in this series was a lot better imo.

The writing was sooo dry. It made the story drag on so long.
This is a tragic event that needed to be told, however, it didn’t need to be almost 500 pages or written like a history textbook.
