Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear

I’d heard so many good things about this book that I was a little hesitant to read it because my expectations were so high, but this is one of my favorite self-help books that I’ve read to date. I listened to the audiobook, and I found myself writing down notes of the takeaways I was receiving from this book.

I truly read this at the perfect time in my early twenties, and I already plan to reread it physically so I can highlight and tab important passages.

What a ride! This book was so fun to read. I started this without reading the synopsis, but I think I’d have been just as surprised even if I did read it. I went into this thinking it was going to be another typical rom-com from my favorite author duo, but this was so much more!

If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. I’m so glad I got over my initial fear of the size of this (it’s thick, let me tell you) because this was such a delight to read.

This was my first super high fantasy book, and I had such a good time reading it. This is such an interesting world with romance, found family, and talking dragons?!! I cared so deeply about many of the characters, and I’m ecstatic to read the prequel when it releases in January.

Early Morning Riser was described as hilarious and witty, and that absolutely rings true. From the first few pages, I knew that Katherine Heiny’s humor as an author was going to resonate really well with me.

While I loved her writing, the story wasn’t especially my favorite. I of course had a soft spot for Jimmy and the way the community comes together to help him. At some parts, I felt like the story was dragging, but I overall am glad to have read from this author! I’ll definitely be checking out her backlist.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for an early copy of this ebook! I really enjoyed reading Maggie and Silas' love story! I am obsessed with all of the shows on HGTV, so I loved reading a romance book with a protagonist that flips houses on YouTube for a living. I am also all for a grumpy-sunshine relationship, especially when the female is the grumpier one. I thought their dynamic was super cute, and I enjoyed reading how it played out.

I still don't know how I feel about the side story of Maggie's family issues. I feel like it was briefly mentioned only a couple times throughout most of the book, and it only really took off around the 75% mark of the story. I really liked the very ending with the conclusion of everyone's stories, but I felt like Maggie and Silas' relationship was pretty rushed at the end of the main story.

Overall, I really liked this book and had a lot of fun reading it. This was my first time reading a book by this author, and I definitely want to read more!

I was in love with the first book of this series, and I am just as in love with this sequel! Finlay and Vero are the ultimate duo, and I loved them tackling another messy adventure.

This book perfectly built up for the next one, and I cannot believe I have to wait until next year for the next book! Elle Cosimano - this series is perfection!
Some of It Was Real by Nan Fischer

This was unlike anything I’ve read before. Sylvie is a psychic-medium that hosts live shows to connect audience members to their loved ones on the “other side”. When Thomas catches wind that Sylvie researches some of her clients to ensure success, he sets out to expose her as a fraud in an exposé that would certainly secure his career. After attending one of her shows and asking her to participate in an interview, the two set off on a weeklong trip to her next show venue that involves discovering secrets of both of their pasts and figuring out what is real.

I will say that this wouldn’t have considered this to be a romance. Instead, it’s more of a contemporary fiction book with a little bit of romance in it. Once I realized the focus wasn’t entirely on the romance and more on the mystery of it all, I was more on board with it. I liked the progression of both Sylvie and Thomas’ character arcs and was discovering all of their familial histories. I wish the ending would’ve gone further about what happened between Sylvie and Thomas since this was technically a romance. This book is definitely unique, but I don’t think it is for me.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Berkley for an advanced copy of this ebook!
