Ava Reid did it again! I whole heartedly adored this book!

I loved Roscilla's characterization. She was young and lost. Although at times her hopelessness could be exhausting and her powers confusing. But I felt that came with being married of at 17.

The dark and twisted setting was very well thought out. It felt as though I was there. I loved the idea of hearing the ocean vs. not hearing the ocean as she accepts her fate.

And my favorite part was undoubtedly THE WITCHES!!! They were so unexpected. This new take on Macbeth's manipulation of their power was very unique. And that twist! I just loved it!

Overall, an incredible read! Thank you NetGalley!!!

This book is one of lush story-telling and violence. The characters are young and naive in the most realistic way possible. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I absolutely love a good exploration of the corruption of academia. However, I felt the exploration of Carmilla and De Fontaine needed a bit more backstory. I want to know how this attachment came to be.

I also felt the romance felt a little forced. Laura and Carmilla did not have as much chemistry as I would've hoped. I did still enjoy their romance though.

As a young college student myself, I felt St. Gibson did a phenomenal job representing the confusion and adjustment college students face.

I really enjoyed this read! Thank you NetGalley!

When I first heard about Olivia Atwater's new book, I thought it sounds good but I'm sure it won't be as good as Half A Soul. I was wrong. It was better.
My biggest complaint about Half A Soul was that it, at times, felt a little YA. This book did not. Despite its lack of sex or even violence it still managed to come across as mature.
I was promised a gothic fantasy and that's exactly what I got! The haunted house was unlike any haunted house I'd read about before. The was the fae are interwoven into what is typically a ghost story was brilliantly done.
The characters were just phenomenal. I loved the way Winnie slowly softened but never weakened throughout the book. Mr. Quincy was a really interesting character was well. Both characters were really fleshed out.
I loved the romance! It was so subtle but it felt natural and not at all forced.
I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

Wow. Just wow. What a read. This book was phenomenal.

First off, the characters. Maeve was tragic. Her character development was so realistic and thorough that you truly feel she is real. And Gideon was extremely interesting. I loved theorizing about his true role in the story. Part of what made this book so incredible was the side characters. By only giving us Maeve's perspective on them helped truly solidify Maeve's cynicism.

Second, the gore. It was sickening in the best possible way. It really helped solidify Maeve's psychotic tendencies. She didn't just kill people, she made her own version of art.

All in all, this book delivered on every promise it made.
