The thing is…
this was honestly nothing special, but I loved it.
It’s also my first Sylvia Plath book.

There’s all this hype surrounding it because she wrote this as a teenager in college.
Actually, I guess it was a big deal back then so nvm lol.

For those of you that have had the pleasure of actually hearing me talk, y’all know I’m a rambler.
I have examples for days.
More often than not, you will almost always be confused until the end.
That’s what this book was for me.
I already know I’m a writer, but this book reminded me that I’m also a storyteller.

I’m not giving a “review” because to understand the point of this extremely short (one chapter if you can even call it that) story, you must read it.

I just realized I never gave my thoughts on this one, and I don’t really feel like doing a full review anymore.
Anyways, I posted a video from a woman on TikTok who mirrored some of my thoughts perfectly (I will send the video to anyone who asks). With that being said: though we follow the protagonist and get a really good world view of how whiteness is perceived; her obsessions however made me want to crash out. A lot of the choices, and the narrative was repetitive. Therefore it was a bit difficult for me, though I was fully invested in the story. I didn’t agree really enjoy the writing style, and look forward to reading something else by this author.

Rating: 4/5…

I saw a review of someone saying this book helped them realize how far they have overcome certain aspects of their own life.

So I would recommend.
