I see where this book wanted to be a story about class and privilege and rich people getting what's coming to them, which I always appreciate, but I find these kinds of stories fail to deliver on that premise when the have-not characters aren't adequately fleshed out. I wanted more context and backstory and build up around the crew and staff stories and dynamics to sell me on the ending. I also personally just am taken out of a story when a main character stands up and gives a monologue on what The Book Means at the end.

Tricia Lockwood has the soul of a poet and the heart of a shitposter which means she writes about very normal things in a really beautiful way while also making you realize how strange the world really is. Her books rip out my heart and also make me cackle out loud
