Most of the book just felt like a build up to a story and I feel like the actual plot then got way too little time in comparison. It was a good build up but it didn't really lead to anything so it was a bit disappointing. I also felt like the horror element wasn't really strong.

Honestly, this book was really tough to get through but I'm so glad that I finished it because it's worth it. I never felt particularly pulled in and the characters and story were kind of distant. Even so, I think Philipa Gregory has done an amazing job in bringing these characters to life and I learned a lot through reading this book.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 26%.

So far it's been really boring, nothing happens. And I really dislike the main character, she's just obnoxious and doesn't really have a backstory. Like, the reason i love antiheros and morally grey main character is because you really get to understand why they do what they do and how they became this way. But that's not the case in this book.

I think this was a very light, easy read. I wasn't really able to connect with the characters and they felt a bit shallow. But I enjoyed the story and will definitely read the rest of the series.

I loved this book. I will say that I don't think the back is 100% accurate tho because I didn't feel like it was really about women's political gain so that threw me off at first. But the story was great regardless and it was devastating but I love a book that destroys me emotionally.
