NOT THE PLOT TWIST omg i genuinely didn’t see that coming for kiva or for jaren 😭 wait bc looking back it makes sm sense abt kiva saving tilda and also when she told her the story and tilda asked to hear it when she woke up bc it was abt her 😭 bye that’s actually sad ok so next book im expecting a lot of tension since kiva and jaren are effectively enemies. obviously they’re gonna get married at the end at least i hope so. the addition of the coded messages was a nice touch and i also think this is a bit of a change from a lot of fantasy books which i like bc it’s all set in the prison, ofc it won’t be in the next book but still i liked that. it’s not the kind of book that i enjoyed on a soul level like throne of glass but it was good and easy to read

omg this was so so fun to read. i love literally all the characters <33 so obsessed with eris and her crew like they’re all so cute and a little family i love them 😭 im usually a fantasy girlie but this plot was so good and just interesting, different to what i’ve read bc tbf most fantasy is just fae and it’s all the same 💀 i really like the writing style and the way that eris and sona have different styles bc it differentiates their characters a lot and the writing reflects their personalities very well. also the romance is so well done imo because it didn’t take over the plot but was still there, and it wasn’t rushed. idk felt very realistic also i think the fact they’re all kids was done very realistically because they actually acted like kids?? ugh i can’t get over the crew tbh i love their dynamic sm and all the characters had different but complementary personalities almost. and xander 😭😭 him trying to save sona bc she saved him was so adorable :,)

ok firstly i’m really glad this did not end with enid actually having a stalker who broke into her apartment because that would’ve freaked me the hell out. honestly the parts where it was like she was being stalked freaked me out 😭 it was very validating seeing her be so paranoid because i would be exactly the same and i get intrusive thoughts about people breaking in so yeah i guess i felt seen. i like that there were scenes of her in therapy because firstly thats not really ever shown in books maybe just touched upon that someone has a therapist and secondly i’m just glad enid got to figure things out. so much representation in just her character which is great and i was happily surprised when her therapist mentioned abt maybe her having autism because that is literally never mentioned in books but it should be!! wasn’t really fussed abt enid and polly together but they were kind of cute. i love the evolution of her relationship with her sisters and the scene where edna was apologising abt gina’s behaviour was really sweet

did not know there was gonna be lgbtq rep in this but what a great surprise!!! i love maya she was definitely my fav, something abt her character was just so warm and sunshiney i love people like that. even if they’re fictional 😭 the premise for this book is really different, i’ll be honest i did not understand a lot of the talk about time because it’s all very scientific but also philosophical (which is briefly touched on and i think is a really interesting take). it’s a very unique type of magic/fantasy,, if it could be called that? i’m not sure because it’s technically not, maybe it’s more sci-fi? idk but definitely fascinating. sora and koki’s dynamic was a bit strange because it felt like they were friends who were only still friends because they had been friends for so long (iykyk) but that might just be the writing style. there was a lot of repetitive stuff like about the different zones and to be honest there isn’t that much of a plot but it was still enjoyable enough and the bits about sora’s mum did make me a little sad. also big shoutout to the cover of this book bc it’s so beautiful

not jamal being dunya omg 😭 that might be the best part of the book cause the little excerpts where amina and jamal interact are so funny. this book as a whole was very funny, everyone had such character especially amina and i really enjoyed it. i don’t think ive ever read a fantasy book like this so it was very refreshing; there was a lot of religion casually incorporated into it which is usually not a thing but it was different and i liked it. im really intrigued by the magic aspect, especially the peris because the way they live seems to be pretty different from other things ive read? i love that amina is older than most fantasy mcs and also a mum which is so cool!! it took me a little while to read this and i think it could be cut down a little bit but at the same time the descriptions are really engaging so it’s good to have them. yeah big slay

ok but the reference to last night at the telegraph club made me sooo happy 😭 i’m so glad lily and kath got their happy ending :,) my main criticism about this book is the fact that steph was cheating on her girlfriend and aria knew… guys what happened to morals!!! i feel so bad for lisa especially at the end when she finds out. i also didn’t particularly love steph or even aria tbh, maybe that’s just me but they felt a bit flat at times. however i really liked mel and tasha even tho they weren’t in it much but tasha was so cute and sweet, im so glad her and aria stayed friends <3 also why did joan have to die like wtf 😭 i didn’t expect that at all and the bit where analemma got sad made me so upset. also despite the bits i didn’t like i kept wanting to read this book and couldn’t really put it down. must be something about sapphic books idk

i kind of had high hopes for this bc i love the summer of broken rules which is also by k.l. walther but sadly it didn’t hit as hard :,) most of the book takes place within like 5 hours or something which is impressive to write but it was very slow and it felt like a bunch of random stuff had to be added to fill out the plot since it’s such a short time. the way that lily and tag made up and got back together was a bit confusing to me and also felt really rushed, their confession scene wasn’t so much a scene as it was like one paragraph 😭 the ending did make me like it a bit more just because it was cute. also i’m saying this as a swiftie but for me the taylor swift references were a bit too much… that’s just me tho !!!
