I recieved an ARC copy of this book and here are my thoughts:
The story has so much potential to be great! I was drawn in my one of the cute pics with the characters and the arrows that give details like "witch librarian" and "300 year old shadow daddy" and reading the description I think I just expected more. The book was plotted well but the execution in the writing and the pace was lacking and that made it hard for me to enjoy.
The book was set in the modern world so world building was half done when it started but the fantasy aspects of it needed more, more lore, more understanding of things. You got it in bits and pieces but not in a cohesive way. I also felt like the FMC did a complete 180 in personality half way though the book with little to no explanation why which was odd. The whole story just felt a bit rushed and a little unfinished.
