The comfort read chronicles continue with the Will Darling series by [a:K.J. Charles|7123498|K.J. Charles|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1418032373p2/7123498.jpg]. Golden Age style pulp, an overstuffed bookshop, layers of twisty mysteries, an emotional support knife — this story has it all. Plus two of my favorite leading men in romance.

I just finished [b:The Duke at Hazard|208918808|The Duke at Hazard (The Gentlemen of Uncertain Fortune, #2)|K.J. I can tell I’m already going to miss this one.

This was one heck of a satisfying read. It took me a minute to fully get into it (a me problem, I'm sure) but the characters, their world, and their conflicts kept calling out to me, and then the twists and turns took me utterly by surprise. I was especially impressed by the way [a:Parini Shroff|21665404|Parini Shroff|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1653589619p2/21665404.jpg] managed such natural and gratifying character growth. Wow, what a book!

I purposely drew out the ending because I so didn't want this book to end. [a:Cat Sebastian|15171247|Cat Sebastian|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1487439203p2/15171247.jpg]'s book was so good that after I read it on Kindle, I had to buy a paperback too, so I could page through it whenever I wanted and take heart from the sight of its spine on my shelf.

Another favorite from [a:Ruth Ware|9013543|Ruth Ware|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1562697198p2/9013543.jpg]. I adored the fun she had with the two narrators and the twists and turns that kept me guessing and reading late into the night.

Definitely stayed up too late to finish this one! The characters were interesting, the conflict was mysterious and twisty, and the pacing was spot on!

I was super late to the party but boy did this book live up to the hype! The prose was stunning, insightful, and alternately heartbreaking and witty by turns. What a fascinating story about characters I won't soon forget.

It was dedicated to Terry Pratchett, which pricked up my ears right away, and I was delighted to discover that it carried quite a bit of his trademark whimsy and willingness to engage with the world from all kinds of interesting angles. It was also hilariously filthy, with a clever plot and lovable characters.

I absolutely adored [b:The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen|57102663|The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen (The Doomsday Books, #1)|K.J. Charles|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1663091244l/57102663._SX50_.jpg|89360006] by [a:K.J. Charles|7123498|K.J. Charles|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1418032373p2/7123498.jpg]. Her characterization is top notch, the plot moves at a fantastic pace, and I wanted to live in the world she created on Romney Marsh. Joss and Gareth's struggles are compelling, and the way they came back together felt very earned. I'm going to gift this one to all my romance reading friends :)
