My rating is very personal. I think if I was tougher I would’ve enjoyed it more. I felt it was a tad repetitive but to someone able to distinguish types of torture is may seem more interesting. I don’t know very much not my cup of tea. I’ve had nightmares and I think a lot of it was shock writing. However I can’t ignore the geniuses of Anthony. if nothing else the story is interesting and the writing technique thoughtful and impactful.

In the first half there was colonels of pure hardness. But often it was overshadowed by complexity. I wish there was more of an establishment of friendship Andrea O’Hagan just kind of threw us in there

However, in the second half he really over I saw the friendship that was trying to be portrayed in the first half. It was incredibly heartfelt. I also felt like the characters got established a lot more in the autumn 2017 section.
