Intense and thrilling from page one of the prologue. Marissa Meyer expertly cultivates an internal struggle within you, the reader, as the “heroes” and anti-heroes play tug-of-war over your sympathies, only for you to realise that there are bigger problems at hand.

A turbulent conclusion to a turbulent trilogy. Every small mistake the characters have made has caught up with them, and Marissa leaves you unable to predict what’s coming - she’s quite good at writing novels you simply can’t put down, even with an approaching exam looming over your head, because while you’re in it, Gatlon City is more important than reality.

5.0

My favourite instalment of the trilogy, this novel continues to blur the lines between “righteousness” and “evil”. It’s full of enthralling fight-scenes, tension and suspicion, generally wholesomeness, emotional turmoil and - you bet - ✨romance✨.
Hits the ground running, doesn’t really stop, and just when you think it needs to conclude itself, you’re left on the edge of a cliff.

But in all seriousness, HOW on EARTH does Nova get so far without even being a suspect? No wonder the city is in shambles - it’s being run by a pack of people so arrogant they can’t even see what’s right in front of their smug faces.

I was going to give this one 4.5 stars, HOWEVER the joke about how paperwork is the most important thing a hospital can do had me CACKLING.
