John Irving is one of my favourite writers. No matter what the subject, he always writes well. Garp is not my favourite, but a close second to Owen Meany. I laughed; I cried; I related. It's about people. It's about a world that is not safe for either kids or grown ups.

A worthwhile read for all parents. It is an easy read, and probably quick if you could manage it before you have a toddler running around.
I don't think many of us grew up with emotionally intelligent parents. I know I didn't and had to learn to manage that territory myself. This book is a wonderful guideline for all parents, and it even awakens you to your own emotional journey.
