GERMAN EDITION READ
We have my favorite character show up,blur haired catboy Bloedhgarm and we get an epic scene of Saphira contacting Roran mentally while he is getting busy with Katrina .
Strengths: Sword-construction montage, Arya's battle scenes later in the book, Roran being a bad-ass motherfucker, and learning to fight ingrained cultural biases against The Evil Race (quote unquote).
Weaknesses: Disappointing and almost anticlimactic end forGlaedr and Oromis .

Read in German.
I love Nasuada, I love how she is Technically Protrayed as on the good side, but also treats people (Elva, Eragon, etc.) as tools for her own purposes. Very Boss of her, and I love the little parallel between her and Galbatorix because of that.
I last read this book as a child and did not find Roran's journey very interesting then. This time I made a more conscious effort to follow his story and enjoyed it. We love a man who goes absolutely bananas.
Really enjoyed the training montage Eragon goes through, it's probably my favorite part of the book. The satisfaction when he finally gets the upper hand in swordfighting is still just as fun as when I was a kid.
Rereading the books gives me a much better understanding of Arya. She was attacked, her companions killed, imprisoned, tortured, almost died to poisoning, and once she survives all this just has to go back to work and also fend off 16-year-old Eragon from making moon eyes at her. I really feel for her. No moment or chance for her to work through what she's gone through, and while of course she doesn't share much of her feelings (especially not with Eragon) I can imagine how horrible the entire situation is.

Nostalgic romp through classic fantasy tropes. I missed Nasuada.

Audiobook in German. Interesting premise. Author has no qualms killing off characters.

Fun little jaunt through a favorite trope of mine: explaining human society and customs to aliens.

READ IN GERMAN
Some interesting stuff, a lot of it meant to make you uncomfortable, I think. Idk why the last and titular story required the brutal beating of a desirable but unattainable "girl" (not even woman in the text) and multiple rape.
Also the story about the man being so so upset about a restaurant for women made me very impatient. Like bro. Get a hobby.
Not worth my time really

Read in German: Idk if this is the complete version? I didn't find the story titled "Pretty Pony" or whatever.
Eh, its Steven King. You get weirdly detailed descriptions of how fuckable the women and girls are, and it never has to do with the plot. Sometimes there's an interesting premise or scene. The short stories make it easier to wade through.
Various physical objects, including an airplane landing strip, are compared to oddly specific gendered things like "the flat breasts of a female student" (so, like, a child????). Bro what
Dolan's Cadillac and the story about the home birth were my favorites, but I did like the Revenge/Self Defense aspects of those.
Not sure what It Grows On You was about at all.

Captivating read. I was regularly shocked by the contents, in the sense that I hadn't heard of nor ever thought about situations the author discussed. Particularly the discussion of wet nursing felt so surprising, yet obvious at the same time.
I am struck by how very much enslaved people were viewed as objects.

I found this book to be "easy" to read in the sense that sentences and paragraphs flowed well. It was never a chore to read. But the content itself is not easy to digest. Necessary read in my opinion.

Not for me. Fast read, but I was skipping over parts even so just to get to the inevitable next scenes.
