This was a very interesting and entertaining book. I liked to combination of science, sociology, and character development (although these are not made-up characters).
This was a pretty cool idea for a book, but in the end I found myself only marginally caring about the characters.
The disjointed nature of the various chapters, which occur at different times in loosely overlapping fashion, was rather unsatisfying. Plus, I didn't really relate to most of the characters.
This was a fascinating portrayal of a very small world - one room. I particularly liked the little boy's character. I was thinking the book would turn out badly, but in the end there is some happy resolution. Really interesting concept.
I don't normally read mysteries, but I really enjoyed the Flavia character. I know historical English mysteries are not exactly unusual, but they aren't my usual turf, so it was also fun to read a book in that world. I'll have to check out some others in the series.
I enjoyed this one more than the first book in the serious, perhaps because I wasnt distracted by wondering how the earth would turn out. The characterization if the new generations, both in space and in the water, was pretty cool.
I read this one a couple years ago, but I thought I would add a review now that I've seen the new movie, my favorite if the year by the way.
I really enjoyed this fanciful book, especially the wonderful illustrations. I would highly recommend reading a hard copy if this book, rather than an electronic version.

This was quite the rollicking adventure story. Reading the various trials associated with getting deeper and deeper into the jungle made me appreciate being safe and sound in my house.
I've read several sci-fi books about Mars, but this one was different in its "wild west" focus. I enjoyed the various characters.
I really wanted to like this book, given the good reviews, but it never really clicked into gear for me. His powers of description and characterization are great, but the plot felt pretty thin for a 900+ page book. The supernatural bits were a little strange and never seemed to be integrated into the rest of the story. In the end, it boiled down to a simple love story, but it took forever to get there.
