This was a great story with well drawn characters. I really enjoyed the movie as well, but I think the book should be read before watching the movie.

This was an entertaining mix of Stephenson-esqe prose and an action-packed thriller. It is much more enjoyable than another highly acclaimed long book I read recently, 1Q84, because stuff actually happens. In the hands of a lesser author, it could have been tedious to keep track of the various characters, but they are described in such vivid detail that they become engrained in your memory.

This was a rather amusing novel, but I found there to be rather too many sudden shifts in character behavior, without enough buildup to explain how they made the leap to the next level. Some characters are introduced, then left behind, like Barry and Diane's half brothers.

It was fun to see how Seattle was portrayed, given that is my town.

The premise of this one was interesting, but the execution didn't really stretch the concept in any sort of interesting fashion. In the end, it was mostly just about teen romances. They could have done so much more with it.

This book had a rather interesting narrative style, but I never really settled in to the story, such as it is.

Much like some of the characters in the book, the pace of the narrative moves dreamily along, rarely getting stuck in the mundane. I wish I could visit this circus. The timeless setting was just right - it wouldn't have worked as well in the present.

Stephen King has always been a consummate storyteller and this book is no exception. So many of his stories have been made into films, that I find myself imagining how they will film it as I read it. I guess that is good exercise for the imagination.

I've always liked Neil Gaiman so I was happy to see that he wrote a kid's book that adults would also like. This one had an enjoyable pace to it and some interesting twists and turns.

This was a fun premise, making your 15th birthday something to dread. I may have to read the rest of the series to figure out why some of these kids have superpowers and why everybody 15 or older has disappeared.

Really cool idea, I enjoyed the buildup to the games. Can't wait for the movie to come out.
