This book had an interesting way of telling the story. There were flashbacks, forced proximity, and the classic pining and miscommunication. I found the characters interesting, and they overall seemed like good people. I think there was also some good personal growth for some of the characters, and the relationships the families had with each other added that extra layer. Overall, a fun, lighthearted book.

This was the first book I've read featuring this detective (Vandy Myrick). I thought the mystery was layered well, and enough turns but not too many to feel hopeless to follow along. I wasn't the biggest fan of Vandy herself, but that may have just been due to one particular situation, otherwise, I have no issues with her. While I'm not sure if I'll pick up another Vandy mystery, I think I will pick up a different series by this author as it was a solid book overall.

Interesting look at sexuality in a selection of animals in nature!
Great storytelling. Not my fav EmHen, but still very enjoyable! I liked the focus of the book, and the romance took a backseat, and that’s entirely okay.
This was my first Porter Beck mystery (third in the series), and he's a solid detective. With this being the first time I was "meeting" the characters, I was at a little of a disadvantage, but nothing too terrible to figure out. While I didn't have the relationship background between the characters, it was pretty easy to understand how they work together and their relationships both in and out of work. This was a good mystery, with a few moving parts. Some graphic descriptions (this isn't a cozy mystery!), but overall, really solid.

Definitely a horror book (not my fav area), definitely queer (good), compares some religious themes to cults (you be the judge of that)
Good story - I thought it had a good setup and kept me interested throughout!
lighthearted
This was an entertaining, lighthearted book! Some spicy scenes, but not overdone. I liked how the relationship between the characters developed, and I think the epilogue was the right "update" for the characters. Overall, a very fun and quick read!
