I found this story incredibly interesting! I thought the flashbacks were a good way of adding context to Maeve and Finn's relationship and how things have shifted. I liked where they were placed - it felt like there was a good amount of thought for how they were added into the book. While I have some mixed feelings about Finn (he gets called out once or twice, and I maybe wanted to smack him upside the head here and there), I thought the book made a good point about how those not in positions of power are not afforded the same benefits and luxuries as those who are born into that world. However, I also think Maeve (well, both of them) could have communicated a bit better (I still mostly blame Finn though, just to be clear).

I love the character development and standing up for others. I think the characters are beautifully crafted, and given the amount of love and care to make them shine.
Let me start by saying I love a marriage-of-convenience trope. I think this book had an interesting premise for the fake marriage - keep a rent-stabilized apartment + health insurance for a great internship opportunity. The one thing I didn't like about this was that I felt during a fight, Evie dropped a VERY LOW BLOW on Theo. Unfortunately, it made me lose a little respect for Evie. However, I have not had any life experiences close to what she had gone through, but as I have gone through life, I've noticed that I find statements to just hurt someone inexcusable. Now, if I ignore that line, I'm pretty happy overall with how the relationship between the characters developed. I understand that there needed to be some fight and tension, I just wish that wasn't how that fight developed? It just felt like Evie took a massive step back, but shoutout to Theo for being a pretty solid human (for the most part).

Solid story, fun hockey. Sometimes families can be great, sometimes they are not great.
I think this is an excellent start to a new series - looking forward to what's next
This was a pretty good book! It took me a little bit to get into, but I think the setup was important. I liked where the book went and how it got there. I had my guesses about where I thought the plot was going to go, and unsurprisingly, I got it wrong. Although I do think my guesses would have still made a good book ;)
The execution of this book was great, and normally I've been in more of a cozy mystery phase, this is a solid mystery that I enjoyed!

Interesting, read for a reading challenge so was a little out of my usual wheelhouse.
I liked the way the information was delivered. I found it relatively easy to follow along, and felt I learned a good amount in how to support and ensure everyone feels valued and appreciated.
