i'm definitely intrigued by all the characters? i feel so sorry for neil though i wanna hold him to my chest... ok maybe no i just want him to feel that he's SOMETHING tangible than just? a shadow that could disappear at any moment... can't believe i finished it while subtly hiding from the swimming carnival lol

Hope was a dangerous, disquieting thing, but he thought perhaps he liked it.

i really liked this collection of essays! i probably already screeched out how kesusastraan, pasemon overturned my brain and i have too many underlines in this book and brackets to indicate parts that i loved. it once again reminds me that i need to read more indonesian lit (someone recommend me women writers though, especially poetry, because i'm tired of reading examples pulled from men and not enough from women)

but this will be the last goenawan mohamad book i'm reading in a time, since i found out that despicably, he has not spoken up about s*t*k's sexual harassment claims (and is seemingly on his side).

a scab, like a continent. ugh everything is so good & hardhitting and LYRA broke my heart in all of the possible ways. the exploration of places as wounds and places in general is... so good.
