I don’t truly know if anything could beat the magic of the first book but, this is definitely one for the Finlay obsessed reader!!!

This is single-handedly my favorite audio book EVER! Everything about it is perfect!!!

All I have to say about this anthology is…✨BLACK🖤FINAL🖤GIRLS✨

I had a whole host of emotions while reading these short stories, which all culminated to the ultimate emotion of pride! Pride that young black horror girlies can see themselves as main characters, heroes, survivors etc. BECAUSE REPRESENTATION MATTERS🤎🔥👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏽💪🏾🖤💃🏽

[Some of my personal favorite short stories were Harvesters by: L.L. McKinney, Ghost Light by: Erin E. Adams, and Tmi by: Zakiya Dalila Harris]

Late Bloomer by Mazey Eddings

The cutesy swoony vibes were immaculate and the flower vibes just screamed ✨SPRING✨! Not to be dramatic but I’m a better more happier person because I read this book😂

Also I love me an instantly wealthy/coming into a large sum of money troupe AND a starts whole new life troupe so this book was it for me!!!

Also I have to admit that while I read this tandem-ly I definitely endorse the audiobook if you have to choose one! It was sooooo good!

I’m here to rave about this book for forever and a day! Perfect for fans of Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan and Counterfeit by Kristin Chen (two of my all time fave books) when I tell you this book was smart and ohhhh so funny👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 BRAVO!

The New Couple in 5B by Lisa Unger

I’m gonna be a big hater about this for a second because honestly I should have dnf’d when I 1.) could see exactly where the story was going at about 10-15% and 2.) saw it going into the spooky paranormal territory, that I absolutely detest in books. Also side note this book had wayyyyy too many characters for me personally. And I completely understand why there were some many characters for each section of the book. It was just a lot and I had to start making a list and by the end of the book I was completely lost at who was who.

I will say despite all that haterade I just spilled, I will say that the writing was easy to digest and lends it self to binge reading even in the slower parts! I definitely intend on giving this author another try with one of her backlist books because dispute the plot I really enjoyed her writing I just think all in all this book was not a great fit for me personally!

I really wanted to love this book but I ended up dnf’ing this at 20%. I just don’t think translated mysteries/thriller fictions are for me…or maybe I just haven’t found the right one. 

That being said I love translated fiction tv show adaptations and would 10000% watch this as one of those….or maybe even listening to this as an audio would have worked better for me!

The cover on this one is gorgeous and the premise I was alllll about!
