While the story had me hooked a little late (which could very well be due to mz massive reading slump at the moment) i enjoyed the characters a lot and the tension was very well build up. I enjoyed reading this book a lot an would recommend it to basically anyone as long as you don't dislike romcoms.

But my issue with the story was that mainly 1) it took me some time to get hooked and stay engaged, 2) that the best friends of our Main character were very one-dimensional and very stereotypical, and we didn't get to know them really. They also basically disappeared half way through the book, we had no emotional investment.

What I really did like were ... spoiler alert btw

the plot lines around G and J.... already forgetting names *¬*... the dude. The love interest had me on board (see what I did there??) from the very beginning and the relationship was beautiful. I enjoyed the different approach to coming out that is less /I'm afraid my friends won't accept me/ WHICH IS TOTALLY VALID, but here we have someone who has these situation done and over with and has to deal with how her friends act every day about it and who "wants" to stay closeted because her environment is literally not safe. It not a better or worse approach but it is something different and I enjoyed that.

Another refreshing plot element was how Liz's role in school changed, how her social life changed. Usually, we get stories about main characters who are outsiders and the get together with their found-family so they can be outsiders together. Here we got someone who got included in the social life by doing-so of others who were different than expected. For Me, who has struggled with social groups quite some in their time, this was beautiful to read. It took a bit of the intimidation and fear away that accompanied any larger social system. I hope that makes sense.

xx, Me
