This book was hilarious. I enjoyed the experiences and people that bill bryson met on the Appalachian trail.

A good look at some of the major plagues that have hit over there duration of civilization. This was written before coronavirus, and it's amazing how many things the author got right about how it might be dealt with, and how many of the same things happened with previous epidemics.
I also liked the author's sense of humor

This book discusses the potential dangers and benefits of big data. Algorithms are increasing determining many aspects of our lives and this week help teach what done of these issues are. I wish we could address these issues before it really becomes too late

If you've read Bury my Heart At Wounded Knee you won't be surprised by a lot of what is discussed, although this does go deeper.
It's sickening to learn about how native peoples have been treated throughout history and how we still follow the same model to currently wage war

I liked the overall theme and message of this book, but it just didn't draw me in. "You are a part of me that I do not yet know.". I would be a much better person if I could keep this saying in my mind at all times.
I really liked learning about the Sikh religion.
Thank you

8/10 but fiction automatically loses one star with me, thus the 3 star rating.
I didn't expect to like this book based off the description, but ended up really liking it. I hadn't heard of flowers having meanings, but apparently it's a whole big thing.
Best to me was the insight it offers into the life of children with no parents. It helped show that your really never know what's going on with someone and that we need to try to get to know and understand people

This is a great story of forgiveness and overcoming trials. I appreciated the author's honesty taking about ways that she was holding herself back while blaming others.
Most of the book is about her journey of forgiveness and recovery. She became anti fragile through her experience.
The only thing I felt was missing was a little more about Ken (her attacker).

I enjoyed listing to Scalias personal opinions. I unfortunately was completely uninformed in relation to many of the issues that are referenced. Scalia does a good job establishing his views, and who am I to argue with a supreme court justice about this kind of stuff.
I liked learning new ideas.
Although I thought the last part of the book (all the speeches about how big of a fan he was of a specific individual) wasn't really necessary, I still enjoyed the book and thought it established his character and views well

This book was very well researched, but felt more like a textbook. Especially the first half when it was history I wasn't will acquainted with it was hard to keep going. The reader is inundated with facts, people, places, etc. I understand what the author was trying to do, so I can't fault them for it, but at the same time I feel like this book would have been much more approachable, thus impactful, if the time prior to the 40s or 50s had been much more brief, thus dealing mostly with history that people were more acquainted with.
If you're looking for the definitive and exhaustive guide on racism and it's history (how we got here) in the USA, this book is for you.

I absolutely loved this! Explore the reasons why a connection to nature are important and what you can do on your own life with your own kids to improve this for self, facility, and community.
I've always loved getting out, but this book has inspired to do that more!
Edit: second time through is just as good. 5 stars again
