This book had an interesting premise, but for me it just didn't work. I thought it was very annoying how clueless the main character is for most of the book.. Also I don't think the moral or the story was very good. It seemed to marginalize a lot of mental health issues as the main character basically just fixes herself.
I know this isn't a sci-fi book, but the big "science" reveal was pretty obvious, and somewhat poorly executed.
Overall, kind of interesting, but pretty forgettable.

This would be 1 star, but I'm sure there is useful stuff for some people.
I thought this book was just boring. Maybe I don't have enough conflict in my life, who knows. It was not really any different than other books about inter personal problem solving

I enjoyed listening to this. It was nice to hear Obama's perspective on what happened during his presidency. I thought it took way too long to get through deciding to run for president and the campaign, but it's his book, he can do what he wants.
Ok book

This was a very well researched book and got deep into something that we as Americans don't know much about. I had a hard time keeping people straight. There were a lot of bad things that happened during the troubles and I'm glad I've learned more about that time.
My biggest complaint is that this book assumes some level of knowledge about the troubles. It doesn't really talk about what started it all, it constantly refers to each side by different names (protestants, Catholics, republicans, etc).
This is a very good book of you already have a basic understanding of the troubles, but will be very difficult of you have zero knowledge like me

To start, I hate historical fiction. Also, this is probably only my second 5 star review this year, and it's December - it was that good.
While it was set on the 1930s, it is about the struggle that immigrants/migrants/refugees face. Not only are they struggling with extreme poverty, but the family is struggling with learning a new place/culture and being discriminated against simply because of where they are from (Texas). The themes here fully apply to it modern day, as these problems haven't gone away, in fact they barely seen to have changed. These issues are approached through great storytelling that doesn't sound preachy and it's quite enthralling

This was a tough book as I don't know much about constitutional law. I listened to the audiobook, which has a lot of recordings from her speeches, which weren't always that high of quality, making it hard to listen to.
I really liked what good friends she and Antonin Scalia were. That should be an example to everybody.

This was just another Neil Degrasse Tyson book in a sightly different format. Nothing really new of you've read anything else by him.

This was a fun Christmas book about how Santa came to be. It is a fun book, but nothing spectacular. I'll probably always think of Santa as a carpenter now, and I think Dasher is pretty cool
A lot of the facts seem cherry picked, but the overall premise is interesting. If we wreck our planet, the most vulnerable will suffer the most, but if we try to stop progress, the most vulnerable will suffer the most.
One major problem I have with this book is that it totally discounts leapfrogging dirty technology in developing countries, but if we actually were to help, I think a lot could be done.
I think he's spot on with nuclear and includes an interesting history that I hadn't heard as to why nuclear is so hated (hint: money).
This has given me a lot to think about

I liked a lot in this book, but I hate to say that I don't totally buy into the premise. There are many circumstances discussed in the book where broad knowledge could be very helpful, but there are also many times, some of which I've experienced in my life, where wider experience is actually detrimental.
I think at the very least it is good to get different ideas out there, and there is definitely value in the subject matter, but maybe not as authoritatively as it's presented.
