Tough book to handle. Once the author reveals the reason the children are at Hailsham it’s almost like moving through mud for the rest of the book.

This was my first audiobook. I own a physical copy of this book but it’s been on my shelf for about two years. Its slow
and the world building is kinda anticlimactic there was a twist of drama but really just an “okay historical fiction”

All things considered…
If you haven’t read this book you are missing out on a masterpiece.
This book gets ALL of the stars. It’s a speculative fiction that is just beyond dope. From the format of the book (for part 2 of the book you literally have to flip the book over - so effing cool), to morally gray characters, to the dialogue between the characters, and the magical way Kiese ties everything together… *insert chef’s kiss*
City, Shalaya, Baize, LaVander and their stories will live in my head rent free for a very long time. I won’t be surprised if I read this book again this year…so nice gotta read it twice. 😉.
