Plot or Character Driven: Character

I regret waiting so long to read this book! I held off because I just KNEW I would love it, and I was not wrong.

T&T&T is a book about love, it takes you on a journey that explores our flaws as humans and how easy it is to  make mistakes. It is nostalgic, poignant and heartfelt in a way that makes you reflect on yourself as a person and you perceive yourself in the relationships that surround you. Sam and Sadie are not perfect, far from it, and T&T&T shows how easy it is for these flaws in our code to affect those we love. It shows how vital love is to us a species, and not necessarily romantic love or the love from your parents or siblings. It is a book that makes you want to hug your friends tight and hold them close.

If you loved the philosophical, reflective aspects of The Fault in Our Stars by John Green I highly recommend you pick up Tomorrow!

Tell Me How it Ends is, at it’s heart, a love letter to books and reading and writing. It was an absolute joy to devour, and I loved every second of it.

It is bursting at the seams with wit, cutting prose & vivid characters. It is a poignant and gripping exploration of grief and love.
The characters are so real and vivid, and so are the locations. We travel a lot with Hallie, and each new place is given such a beautiful backdrop that I felt like I was right there with her. I loved how we explored love, in platonic relationships and romantic ones alike. There is something so lovely and REAL when an author manages to capture how vital our friends are to us, how we thrive on that love as a species, and Lauren does this SO well. Hallie’s friendship with Wes is so precious and wonderful, and her growing friendship with Jordan as well. Also, this a book ABOUT a book. This fake book had me equally emotionally invested, I needed to know that Princess Halladora would be ok! The author’s ability to reel me in so hard to fake plot is an incredible talent.

But Fletch and Hallie? DAMN! This is the romcom of my dreams.

After feeling a bit let down with TMO, The Song Rising reeled me back in, hard and fast! Paige is ruthless in her ambitions in this one, and the burn continues ever so slowlyyy 🔥

The Song Rising is full of action, tortured protagonists and ruthless leaders. Paige’s growth really shines through now, from the scared young woman she was in book 1 to the fearless Underqueen in book 3.

I’m very keen to see where Paige and Warden get up to in The Mask Falling!

BBTM was lush, hypnotic and romantic. Aereen is a woman we’ve all been at some point in our lives — naive, quick to love and trust and full of hope. She is such a wonderful,  REAL, character and she deserves so much love (Demi, I’m looking at you).

The imagery was vivid and descriptive, we are easily transported to this word of beautiful Elves and rare roses. The world building was well rounded, and consistent — as were the characters. There was a lovely undercurrent of platonic, female friendship & love running through this story, I wish there were more scenes with Jenissa and Maryn! The romantic interests are such interesting characters, with such unique and captivating backstories. I loved watching Aereen navigate these new experiences!

This duology was heartfelt, melodic and twisty! With a great cast of characters, all of whom are ambitious as hell, this was a page turner to the say the least.

I loved that Sue Lyn Tan really explores love in different forms in this; motherly love, friend love, first loves. Xingyin feels everything so strongly, most of all the love she has for the people around her. The descriptions of the different Immortal Kingdoms were beautiful — you feel as if you’re right there with the characters.

Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a melodically written, and magical, story.

How does one describe this book? It felt like chaos made real. There’s so many threads being pulled together that you’re just RACING to hold onto a few of them.

Nona the Ninth was witty, hilarious, poignant and frustrating. I felt like I needed a spread sheet to connect all the dots together! So many of my questions were answered, but they were replaced by more just as quickly.

I can’t say too much without spoiling, but Nona loves you & I will always laugh when I see a cow from now on.
