The Assassin Thief was a beautiful and intelligent debut by author Madeline Te Whiu. Full of intrigue, mystery, action and secrets, it hooks you immediately.

I could gush over the writing for days! It was so gorgeously descriptive, reminiscent of fantasy of Lord of The Rings at times. The language of the fae in particular deeply intrigued me, after asking the author she informed she based it on the Māori language and Latin. The result is an elegant, lyrical tongue that adds to the magical, whimsical nature of the fae.

Telium is the very definition of the badass female main character™️. Her skill as an assassin are a force to be reckoned with by itself, add her Gifts into the mix and Telium is terrifying in action.

The plot twists at the end are shocking, but so intelligently written. The seeds sewn and scattered so eloquently and subtly that when the final conflict starts it makes you think about all those little seeds, resulting in your mind being blown.

I’m going to need book 2 ASAP!!

A big thank you again to New Dawn & Madeline for the ARC copy!
