Reread 30/1/24: beautiful, no notes.
Amateur Naturalist is a stunning sapphic Beauty & The Beast retelling.
I loved every second of this book! It felt like a warm, crackling fire with a cup of tea on a chilly night. It was cosy and comforting and made me feel so dang good it isn’t funny.
Celeste is our delightful, if slightly naive, protagonist, and our Beast is damaged, withdrawn, witty, and loveable.
Everything about this story is just perfect to me. Without speaking too soon, it may be my favourite book ever. Ceinwan’s writing was beautiful and elegant, capturing our characters in vivid detail. There aren’t enough stars for this gem of a book.
