fast-pace friends to lovers!
A very fast paced romance packed with a roller coaster of emotions! I’ve explored mostly enemies to lovers, so this was my first friends to lover trope. At first I felt the book was going to be “innocent” with a little dark/spice type romance but the author surprised with the level of spice! Don’t get me wrong, I loved it - I just wasn’t expecting it. The sexual tension was great & kept the story going. It wasn’t as dark compared to the books I’ve read, but I loved the balance between it all. To me, I considered the book to be a light read. The only thing I felt was that the story was a bit rushed. I also expected Brandon to cause a little more chaos. The way he was written sounded like it would take more than what the story unfolded to stop him pursuing Kasi. Usually I get dissatisfied when a book is too fast so I took my time with this one. Glad I did and I loved the ending! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The final book of the Torrio Empire was better then I expected! Unlike book 1 & 2, it was packed with action and endless drama. The slow pace became a medium & I was intrigued enough to finish it within a day. I honestly feel like the trilogy would have been better off as a duet! At first I wasn’t very fond of how toxic Bianca & Callum’s relationship was but Callum does a 360 & turns into a better man for her. Book 2 had a lot of going back & forth along with a lot of unspoken truth, so I was happy to finally see it all unfold in the final book. I’m excited to read the Dark Knight & finally get inside Tatum’s head, her whole ordeal, and the possible relationship with her bodyguard!
book 2 was soo blah, that i almost didnt continue to book 3 but i’m happy i did because it was SOOO much better as reviewers promised it would be. once i started, my so call reading slump went away
Almost DNF but,
while the book was good, it felt like it was becoming repetitive
which almost made me DNF but I’m glad I pushed to continue because it started getting better and the ending was definitely a cliff hanger! I dont know if I’m rooting for Bianca & Callum’s relationship given how toxic it is & I wish we gotten a little more in-depth character/relationship development of the two. Overall it was very spicy & plot twisting. I cant wait to read the next book in the series.

either i’m about to hit a reading slump or this book just wasn’t as intriguing as i thought it would be. i mentioned that book 1 was slow but this one was even waaaay slower. basically a whole lot of nothing happens compare to book 1. With book 1 the relationship development was slow but i at least had the plot to fall back on & some sort of ending satisfaction. As part of a duet, I was hoping the ending would give me some sort of satisfaction or a big cliff hanger to keep going; it didn’t. The FMC was just a tad bit annoying as well.
wanted to take a little break from my dark mafia-romances so I decided to pick this one up. Its a fast pace romance story with a little twist (crazy stalker ex-bf) to it. The spice was good, especially with Zac. Some of the moments were pretty hot but overall it was a light and fun read. The story wasn’t bad or anything, it just wasn’t too intriguing for me. I didn’t find myself getting hooked & started skimming a little towards the end. Maybe I don’t need a break from my usual reads
One word: DRAMA. If you live for drama & crime mysteries - this is the book to go for. It is a twist of Desperate Housewives meets Pretty Little Liars; combined into one. A little neighborhood deemed perfect in the eyes of an outsider but inside, it quietly holds nothing but secrets and lies. Its literally a series of unfortunate events, one after another. The author built the environment and characters up so well, I did not want to stop. While reading, each FMC (especially Ava) had me riled up! Reading it felt like I was watching one of those movies, yelling “why would you do that? or how could you?! But thats what made it so intriguing because there was so many twist and turns. Even with so many events happening the author never made it feel like it was too much. Every event unfolded & blended in perfectly together. I cannot wait to read the second book!
Velvet & Sin is my first MMF read and I am not disappointed! I actually picked this blindly (choosing solely for its cover) without reading the synopsis and boy was I in for a treat. The story was very well balanced & packed with drama, violence, emotions, & spice. The FMC was well written - Eve isn’t like those other FMC’s (immature, prude, irrational). She was understanding, strong, and lovable! The way she was portray, I really enjoyed her as a FMC. I also liked the switch, it’s usually the MMC’s that are more dominant but seeing Cillian submit even though he was suppose to be this bad boy was a refresher. I would have easily given it a five star if it wasn’t so fast-paced. While I do love fast paced stories, I wanted this read to be a medium-pace because I was enjoying the character developments, the chemistry, and the drama. I wanted it to unfold slower instead of having it jump right to it. BUT with that being said, I am curious enough to pick up the SOOA series by Reid just so I can get a more in-depth character/background story of Cillian & Christian. Overall it was a good read! Considering that I read trigger warnings like a check list & thinking I can handle whatever is thrown at me - I stumbled upon this read. All I can say is holy fck - it is dark. I picked up this book about a month ago & while I’m all for the darker the better; it was a bit harder to continue because of how realistically written Elliot is to IRL rapists. About 40% in, I DNF’d because it didn’t sit right with me until a month later I decided to finish it. I love themes like fmc falls for stalker but fmc falling for her rapist? Yeah took a bit for me to grasp the concept :’) I give it a solid 3.5 stars! The plot was well written and taking turns for many events. The ending was intriguing and I do want to continue book 2 because I am curious to how their story is going to play out with Joanie harboring a fugitive that she herself put behind bars but is also now the love of her life. The passion & intensity is there but its truly a fcked up story! I would easily considered this one on the darker side of romance on my book list.
fast pace but fun read!
The beginning of the story is a bit fast paced, I felt like it was rushed so there wasn’t a lot of character developments. The chapters are short and there are many POV’s so I couldn’t really connect to any of the characters the way I wanted too. I wanted to learn more about Roman & the vampires and by the end of the book I had a lot of questions (too many to be honest)! The book sort of reminded me of Dens of Viper except with fantasy/paranormal (which I love). The plot is great and it was a fun & intriguing read. Visle: Blood & Venom is my first paranormal/fantasy romance and I can say I enjoyed it enough to continue book 2 right after my finished. Its not the usual dark romance I’ve read but it was more of a dark horror romance. The spice level wasn’t crazy but the sexual tension & chemistry is there. Overall I enjoyed it & can’t wait to finish book 2 with the hopes of most of my questions being answered! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
