I’m giving this 4 stars even tho i completely understand why other reviews are less than favorable. The book was necessary to move from book 1 to book 3. I think they had to go through all this back and forth and Topsy turvy and come out of character to get to book 3. Book to is a stepping stone where the story itself is built and progressed to the next level and secrets are revealed

Soo, this book wasn’t bad it was literally just ok. I felt about half way through the book really plateaued and I was waiting for it to get exciting again and for me it never really got there. Additionally for me the ending felt like it was rushed, I felt like it just ended but there was no resolve...maybe there’s a sequel coming?

FINALLY FINISHED!!
A semi definitive list of worst nightmares - Krystal Sutherland

“... that he was bright and burning and brilliant, and without his warmth, without his gravity to orient herself around she would be nothing.”

This book was excellent, I have a few specific things absolutely love about this book. The main theme of family made me immediately fall in love. As weird as it is every member was accepted exactly as they were, they were odd and eccentric. There were problems but they were loved and they were cared for.

Esther Solar- is spunky, she is witty she has a huge heart and she is an amazing sister. I think one of my favorite this about Esther is that she’s so determined to be there for her family. My relationship with my siblings is so important that i would absolutely anything for them at the drop of a dime. I think Esther learns so much about not only herself but about her family and what love looks like and how it looks different for different people. Which in and of itself is a life lesson.

Jonah- Oh Jonah, my sweet baby Jonah. He is the reminder that you have to check on the people who smiles the most, who laugh the most and who are there the most. Sometimes the strongest on in your corner needs someone in theirs too. I think Jonah was the impartial party for Esther. I think he was truly her breath of fresh air, I think she would’ve been snuffed out if not for his humor and his Willingness to be open with her

Eugene- bless him. This is the real under dog of the story. For reason I won’t disclose for fear of spoiler. Just know you will love him.

The humor is palpable, it’s heartwarming it makes you smiles and chuckle the entire way through.

I will be reading more by her, especially if her writing is this consistent.

So I actually really enjoyed this book, mind you I like clichés and I don't mind any corny bits, I think it adds to some stories and the good news is that this was not overwhelming cliché in my opinion.

I will agree it is a lot like Harry Potter in structure...HOWEVER the bits that make this story seem real are my favorite part. I love that the classes they take are not solely centered about magic. I mean if we're honest it would make sense that Physics and mediation and agility would actually go into magic in the real world.

I think what kept me going with this, was honestly seeing how the team comes together. I am excited to learn and figure out what happened to Her parents, but I also just want to see what this team is going to become and how they're going to build each other and see them succeed.

I will admit the second book could very easily become overly cliché which I hope doesn't happen but I am open to reading the entire series regardless.
