A very enjoyable and satisfying conclusion to this trilogy! I've such fun reading these books, and they have been a welcome distraction and I've looked forward to reading each one. El is a great character and her story arc is one of the best that I've seen recently. This one may have been my favorite of the trilogy?

Anyway, I can't wait to see whatever project Novik works on next!

Getting covid really freed up my reading time enough to get through this amazing wonderful book! I've been a fan of Alexandra Rowland's for a while now, since they released A Conspiracy of Truths and I've been waiting to see what their next novel would be.

This did not disappoint at all, and feels similar to Winter's Orbit and A Strange and Stubborn Endurance . Rowland delivers again with amazing world-building, politics, and courtly intrigue. The romance plays a big role in the story, but it felt evenly balanced with everything else going on.

The characters were so fun, and funny, and so much about this book was delightful, it was exactly what I needed to get through several days of covid.

When I finished The Thief I thought it was a fun, entertaining story. I knew that many find The Queen of Attolia to be where the series really becomes great, and I also found this equally true. This book is so well crafted, and each it feels like each word matters and every sentence was special. The politics, intrigue, plot, and characters were so enjoyable, I had a tough time putting this book down, I just wanted to keep reading.

I'm also enjoying how short these books are, and I hope that I continue to enjoy each book of the series as much as I did this one.

RTC- but man is this series shaping up be being a new favorite

3.5/5 stars
This felt like the continuation of the previous book, Nemesis Games. It almost felt like the conclusion, but there are three more books left, so I guess there is more story to tell! I enjoyed parts of this, especially the ending, however, I thought there were too many point-of-views, and some that I had no real interest in.
I still plan on finishing this series, but I probably won't read #7 until early next year.

this book was... a lot . I'm not really sure how to formulate my thoughts on this, other than to say that I think I enjoyed it overall, and that it was totally unlike anything I've ever read before.

I can see why some people didn't like it, there are quite a lot of mentions or gore, rape, violence, and an umpteen of other triggering content. Don't go into this book without realizing the content, but the book sets the tone in the first couple pages of what the story is going to be like.

I've seen this compared to asoiaf and lotr, and just... no. This is a completely unique fantasy story and I can't stand seeing comparisons like that. My favorite part of the story was the world building, the mythology and scope of the story. Very epic and very large. We meet hundreds of characters along the way, and I love a good quest/journey narrative. The world-building is heavily drawn on African myths and folklore, which was probably my favorite part of the book. In a class I took couple semesters ago I learned about some of the prominent African myths. I recognized some themes, motifs and symbols that I had studied in this book, which made for a treat. But as to the other 95% of the myths I didn't recognize, I enjoyed very much.

My emotions on this are a bit mixed, as the level of violence and difficult content isn't always my favorite, but I deeply enjoyed the story, and writing and the level of craft put into it. I don't see this level of craft very often, and reading something so well created has been nice. I plan on continuing the series and reading the next book whenever it comes out!

This was one of my anticipated book releases for February, and I had high expectations for this book. It was a fast paced read set in an interesting world and I was expecting this to be a 4 or 5 star book easily. This is a solid 3 star book for me, and was very middle-of -the-road. I enjoyed the second half of the book much more than the first.

It took me a little while to feel fully centered in this world, and to understand what all was going on. The dialogue seemed very YA and while this book deals with heavy topics, it also feels juvenile sometimes. I don't think I plan to continue with the series once the next books are released. You can read this as a standalone, and that's what I plan to do. This book was good, and I can see how the author as a screen-writer comes through into the writing style of this book. Definitely loved the diversity of this book, however there is a lot of sexism and violence against women.
