I really enjoyed reading Pregnant Pause. I didn’t think that I would, because it deals with Teen Pregnancy. With all the sensationalism going on with the subject lately, I just thought I would hate it. I couldn’t be more wrong. I really loved this book!

The main character, Eleanor, is a total brat. She does whatever she has to do to defy her parents. (I remember doing the same thing at that age.) Once she finds out she’s pregnant, her life is completely turned upside down. Her parents are leaving to go overseas, so the only choices she has is to go with them, (which she really doesn’t want to do.), or to marry the baby’s daddy and live and work at his family’s summer camp. In the beginning she thinks that is what she wants, but once it actually happens, she wishes it hadn’t.

It took a while for her to grow on me, but I really liked Elly. Yes, she made some bad choices, but I think overall, all she wanted was for her parents to be there for her. She believed that they cared more about the children overseas than they did about her. I really enjoyed following her on this journey, and seeing her attitude completely turn around. She really cared about the kids that she worked with, and she loved her boyfriend/husband, Lam, even when he was a total jerk and was never around.

Almost the entire last half of the book had me in tears. I can’t imagine going through what Elly went through. It was heartbreaking. I’m glad she was such a strong character though; she fought as hard as she could for what she thought was right. I love that about Elly, she grows into such a strong woman.

This story shows that life doesn’t always turn out the way you think it will. Life is HARD. People change, sometimes in the blink of an eye. And sometimes, you just have to deal with life on your own.

Overall, I loved this book. It’s a really great read, and I can’t wait for the book to be released so I can add it to my collection.

A big thank you to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book!

The world Becca Ritchie created in Wynter Chelsea: The Legacy is filled with action, suspense, paranormal creatures, and a little bit of romance. She wrote this book when she was just fourteen, and I have to say, she did a pretty amazing job with it!

The characters are well thought out and written. The heroine, Amanda, is very interesting. She wants to be a demon hunter like the rest of the people in her family, but they won’t let her fight. All her family wants to do is keep her locked away, safe and tight. I really felt her frustration at this, and at being left in the dark about so many family secrets. Sometimes I was frustrated with her because she made so many rash choices and bad decisions. My favorite character would have to be Dustin. You could tell her really cared about Amanda, but she was so naive to his feelings. He was such a sweetheart. I love him! Trevor was very funny, and Jack was the typical big brother. (Whenever I would picture Jack and Dustin in my head, I would think of the two brothers from the show Supernatural, Sam and Dean Winchester. It made for a yummy visual!)

The storyline was interesting and well written. I loved getting to know all the characters, and reading about their ‘gifts’ and their demon hunting situations. (There was never a dull moment for the Wynter and Chelsea families!) I really, really enjoyed reading this book, and I’m looking forward to checking out the second book in the series to see what happens next!

Thank you to Becca Ritchie, for contacting me to review your awesome book. I really enjoyed it!

Dark of the Moon was quite a different read for me. Unfortunately, I have never read the myth about Theseus and the Minotaur. I don’t really know if I would have liked the book more if I had previously read the myth beforehand, or not, as I did find some parts of the books really confusing.

I did really like the storyline, but did not connect with a lot of the characters, especially Ariadne. I really tried, but the connection just wasn’t there. The only character I really somewhat liked was Theseus. He did make the book a bit more interesting; reading about his life, following his journey, etc.

I’m definitely going to check out the original myth to see how this book works around the myth. What I did read was interesting, and I definitely want more information about it.

Overall, this book was only an ok read for me. However, I can totally see it being a read that most people will like. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for allowing me to read and review this book!

The Magnolia League was a quick, funny read. I wanted to check it out because it’s a book about the South, and well, I’m from the South! It was definitely interesting, albeit somewhat confusing at times.

The main character, Alex, was a bit much for me to take. She’s very different from most girls. She was very much a hard core hippie. I had a really hard time connecting with the character. My favorite character in the book was Hayes, who was a Junior Magnolia Leaguer. I don’t know what it was about her, but she didn’t really come off as a snob to me, and I really liked the character. Most of the other characters in the story fell flat for me, unfortunately.

The plot was very interesting, and I did enjoy reading about the HooDoo and the southern background. I did not care for all the reference to marijuana, and there was a lot of it. The book also has lots of secrets in it, with a lot that didn’t get answered. I’m hoping we will get more information in the next book.

Overall, this was an Ok read for me. I will be checking out the next book in the series, just to see where the author goes with the series.

Thank you to Poppy and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book!

Seventeen year old Madeline lives in a digital world. She goes to school, meets new friends, and does her shopping all without ever having to leave her home. Why leave your home, when everything is right at your fingertips? Introduce hunky boy Justin, who shows her what life is like outside her digital world, and Maddie feels her life will never be quite the same again.

I picked up Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky from Netgalley. I didn't really know what to expect, but I picked it up because it had a different feel than most of the books I've been reading lately. I have to say, it was a great read! The plot was great, and really sucked me into the book. It was fasted paced, and I was finished before I knew it.

I liked the main character, Maddie. I liked seeing her 'awaken', to a life she didn't even know about it. You could tell there was a rebel hidden in there, and she was very likable. Justin was another good character. I felt bad for him. He really wants to care about Maddie, but feels that he has to take care of everyone else as well. I didn't like that he played with her emotions so much, but that's a guy for you. ;)

I really enjoyed the book! The ending left me wanting MORE. I'm hoping it was left that way for a reason, and that there will be another book(s) in the series.

Thank you to Houghton Mifflin Books and Netgalley for letting me read and review this book! I'll definitely reread in May when it's released!

Always a Witch is the second book in the ‘Witch’ series by Carolyn MacCullough. I absolutely loved reading Once a Witch, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on Always a Witch. This series is so very awesome; it’s definitely one of my favorite series.

In the book, we follow Tamsin and her hunky boyfriend, Gabriel, as they travel back in time to save the Greene Family from destruction at the hands of the evil Knight Family. Tamsin is just an awesome character. I love her. She's very courageous, and will do whatever it takes to make sure her family is safe. I love her family as well, they are so great. Gabriel is very swoon-worthy. He is totally devoted to Tam, and you can tell her cares for her deeply. I missed him a lot in the first half of the book though. Even the villains are well thought out and very interesting.

This book is very fast paced, and the storyline is engrossing. Mrs. MacCullough's writing definitely kept me interested in the story, and I had a really hard time putting the book down.

Overall, this book was great. This series is great! I love the characters, I love the storyline. I love it all, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

A BIG thank you to Houghton Mifflin Harcout and Netgalley for letting me read this advanced copy!

I read this book in just a few hours time. Mrs. Moskowitz has a very unique writing style that made the book very hard to put down. However, I didn’t really care about any of the characters. The one exception would be the main characters brother, Gideon, who is deaf. Having an autistic niece, there’s something about a child with a disability that always pulls at my heartstrings. I really loved his character.

There is a lot of foul language in the book, with is a bit of a turnoff. I am not a prude at all, I know people curse, especially tweens and teens. However, with this being a YA book, I felt there was a bit too much. There are also some sexual references that are really more for an adult book than a YA book. (Again, I’m not trying to be a prude!)

Overall, this was a good, albeit emotional read. I’m sure everyone else will love the book. It was just ok for me.

Last Sacrifice is the last book in the Vampire Academy series.

I really, really love this series, and I hate to see that it's over. I was so glad when I finally got a copy of Last Sacrifice. After the cliffhanger ending to Spirit Bound, I just HAD to know what was going to happen. It has taken me this long to think and gather my thoughts about this book... I really have mixed emotions about it. (I guess that's why it has taken me weeks to finally write this review!)

(May contain spoilers, though I'm trying not to!)

As in the other books, we see Rose doing whatever she has to do to keep Lissa safe. She's such a great character. She's strong, she's a fighter. Although there were some things that she did in this book that I didn't really care about. I think she and Dimitri are great together. Dimitri is still as swoon worthy as always. I'm really glad that Lissa grew a back-bone in this book. She wasn't nearly the helpless little princess we saw in the previous books. I was glad to see that. Adrian, well... I felt so bad for him throughout most of the book.

This definitely wasn't my favorite book in the series, but it was still a really good read. A lot of questions were left unanswered. I wasn't too thrilled with the ending either. I'm hoping that the reason it was like that is because of the spin-off series that Mrs. Mead is writing. After finishing the book, I was left wanting more.

All in all, a good read.

Happy Reading!

Never Eighteen by 2012 Debut Author Megan Bostic, is a touching story of friendship, love and loss. I really, really enjoyed reading this book, and read it in just a few hours time. It was a beautiful and touching read.

The characters are wonderful. I really felt a connection with them, especially the main character, Austin. He knew his time left in the world was short, and he wanted to help the people he cared for with the problems in their lives, and to tie up a few of his own loose ends, before his time was up. We follow him on journey over a two day period, with the help of his best friend, Haylee, to help these people with the problems in their lives. I felt his love, his sadness, and sometimes his frustration. He had a wonderful support system, and you could definitely feel the love. I thought that was really great.

The book is a very quick read, and the plot deals with something we can all relate to; loss. The writing was just beautiful, and heartbreaking. I was crying into my sleeve all through the end of the book. If a book can make me cry, that definitely says something. I love books that can get to me emotionally. The book definitely made me think, ‘What If?’.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this, and recommend to anyone that loves to have a good cry over a great book. I’m really looking forward to reading more of Mrs. Bostic’s books in the future! Happy Reading!

Dream Smashers was a hard book to read, emotionally. I haven’t read many books that have dealt with addiction and its consequences, so this was also an eye opener for me. I’m really glad I read the book.

Most of the characters were likeable, and also complex. The main character, Autumn, is a very strong young lady. The girl has been through a lot, but she can take care of herself, along with the help of her grandmother who raised her. Her mother, Jacinda, was a meth addicted mess. It was painful to read some of the stuff Jacinda had put Autumn through. No mother should treat her child that way, and no child should ever have to go through what Autumn went through. I did not like the mom! I enjoyed Evan, and was glad that he was introduced into Autumn’s life. I think the religious perspective that he brought along really helped Autumn out during difficult times, and I liked that.

The plot was engrossing, and held my attention. The first half of the book went by a bit slowly for me, but by the second half of the book, I was hooked. The story is told from three different points of view; by Autumn, Evan and Jacinda. Normally I would find this confusing, but the author wrote it in such a way that I had no trouble telling what character I was reading about.

Overall, this was a very emotional read, but I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read it.
