this manga was so 👏🏻 good 👏🏻. it was incredibly cute and i really enjoyed the art style. i wasn't expecting to love it as much as i did. the feeling of eating meals with people you love is great. to be able to work together and then be rewarded with a tasty meal? fantastic.

something i loved was minoru and yutaka's relationship. it's so sweet and they really compliment each other. i would've loved to see minoru fighting yutaka's family, and maybe yutaka visiting minoru and tane's mom's grave and paying his respects and showing how happy her sons are.

in this i really liked the timeskip (side eyeing you, dracula). it worked so well and this is definitly a new comfort manga.

honestly, i'm a bit disappointed. it definitly didn't read as i thought it would. it consisted of mostly diary entries, which isn't bad, per say, but it was a bit confusing at times. there were so many characters and i kept getting them mixed up.

i thought the novel would be centered around dracula, with the story being told from his perspective, but alas... the story showed the reader people who had been terrorized by the count.

something that i found interesting was the medicine of the 19th century. it was so different from today's standards. although, i hated the ending. it didn't make sense and it was very dissatisfying. i wish there had been a big fight between the humans and dracula. you're such a coward, count!

the weird timeskip at the end... no... but! i'm happy to have read the OG vampire story.

gilda is a twenty-something lesbian atheist who often thinks about death. one day she accidentally accepts a job as a secretary at her local catholic church. to scared to tell the truth, gilda slowly surrounds herself in lies. she can't tell the old receptionist's friend that she's dead, she can't tell a guy she doesn't want to date him since she's gay, and she can't tell anyone how bad her mental health is.

i really liked this book! as someone who struggles with anxiety i could really relate to gilda. i saw myself in her a bunch of times.

this book is cynical, funny, and so real. the streams of consciousness parts really shows the reader a part of gilda's brain, and i very much enjoyed that. it was easy to read, even with the unpredictable time-jumps.

something i missed, though, was the fact that we never got to see everyone's reaction when gilda finally told the truth. how did they react? is she still working at the church? well, i guess those questions will have to remain unanswered.

nevertheless, i would really like to check out austin's other works and see if it's worth reading!
