DNFed at 16% of the book as I wasn’t getting into and and heard that it could be a problematic book. I will be probably be doing more research if I decide to go on with this book.

This book is republished with a new cover and is a bestselling series. This story follows a young girl calls King Rain and Rain realizes he has a true mate. I was super excited to read this book but let me say that the world building is very complex. I didn’t expect it to be complex with a lot of new terms and people that it made the book hard to understand. I enjoyed the magic system of the story but the new fey words made it hard to understand. The pacing for this story is fast and I enjoyed the parts of the story I understood. I do wish this book had povs written of who’s is who’s because I did often get lost when I didn’t grasp whose pov I was reading.

Ellysetta is the FMC of the story and I wish I enjoyed her character but I felt she was there. Like the book is about her but you don’t know anything about her. She’s described as a powerful character but honestly, I didn’t see that part of her or any development to her character. Then there is Rain which I wish I knew more about but his pov was hard to figure out and I couldn’t even imagine him in my head. There are many side characters in this book and I enjoyed one of Ellysetta’s protectors. The romance is fated mates but I couldn’t feel the chemistry just yet as Ellysetta was basically taken to Rain.

The ending didn’t really have a cliffhanger nor did I care for it. I was really excited for this book but the world was just too complex for me. You can tell the story is written in the early 2000s which I didn’t mind. I have the second book in the series which I will be reading just because I have it and can see if the story gets better.

Her Soul to Take by Harley Laroux

This story follows a young woman who is a supernatural hunter and there’s a demon obsessed with her. This was a great, dark paranormal romance that had a wonderful story. As this book is recently published, you would expect the writing style to be of the current time but it feels like an early 2010s book. Think of Hush Hush and House of Night. LaRoux is a great writer and I enjoyed the complex world they created. There were many conflicts in the story that made the story entertaining and I was here for all those cute romance scenes. The pacing was fast and I read this thick book pretty fast. This story follows both Leon and Rae.

Leon is a demon who is summoned on earth on a mission but he becomes obsessed with Rae. I liked his character but I wish we got to know more about him. I felt his story could have been more detailed like Rae. Rae is a ghost hunter who moves her college and meets Leon. I have to say that I kind of found her annoying at times but I liked how chaotic it would be to keep the story entertaining. I do wish there was more character development in her. There were many side characters in this book and I loved the villains in this story. The romance is enemies to lovers and he falls first which is very steamy. The chemistry is very well built.

The ending was well done but you can tell who the next story will be about which I’m so excited for. This was a fun story but I do wish the characters had more development though the world was well done. I recommend checking this book out especially if you want to read a good paranormal romance book.

This story follows a hockey player who has panic attacks from his past and meets a girl who has to take care of her brothers. This book deals with family problems and developing one self which Corinne did a great job with. I enjoyed the main storyline of this book and the conflicts throughout it. I do have to say that I was expecting more hockey in this book but can see how the story deals with mental health. The pacing was fast and should have been a bit slower so that the main message was left properly. I liked the perspectives of both Sadie and Rhys throughout this book.

Rhys is the hockey captain of his team but because of his concussion, he begins to have panic attacks. I wish we got more of that side of the story as it wasn’t mentioned much in the beginning but towards the end. I enjoyed his character a lot more than Sadie’s and seeing him develop. Then there is Sadie who is a figure skater though I wish we got more of that in the book. I loved how she cared so much for her brother but I did sometimes find her annoying. There were many side characters in this book and I loved how Sadie’s friend and Rhys’ parents were such supporting people. The romance is he falls first and second chance which is well done and very cute.

The ending was great but I mostly enjoyed the moments when Rhys’ and his family were taking care of Sadie’s brothers and showing the love they deserved. Those were the best scenes. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and did have some minor problems but it was still a great book. I recommend checking it out especially if you love books dealing with mental health and is written well dealing with the topic, especially in a sports romance.

Fletcher just arrived at his new job as a teacher where he has an embarrassing moment with the counselor, Lucy. They both have their secrets and realize something isn’t right. I was really hooked on the story from the beginning. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and the combination of both the story and the texts. I loved the fast pacing but also how there were so many moments where both the MCs solved their problems. I loved the positive attitude of talking about anxiety and depression as the MMC dealt with it properly and ensured the FMC was doing well. As much as there were amazing moments, I do have to mention there were a bit too many conflicts that sometimes made the story too much. So much would happen at one point which I think would need to be lessened. I did enjoy the dual povs of both Lucy and Fletcher.

Lucy is a counselor at her school and wants to make sure her students are doing well. I loved how sweet and kind she is but she also has personal struggles she’s dealing it. I loved seeing her develop in this book and finding love. Then there is Fletcher who has to take care of his mom and left his old job. He’s a sweetheart and such a caring person. I didn’t enjoy his character as much as Lucy but he also has a great development. There were many side characters in this book and mainly they were all kind and sweet. The romance is friends to lovers and a kind of instant-love which was cute but I wish there was more chemistry.

The ending was well done and I really enjoyed the story. It was well developed and I loved how the author handled the sensitive topics. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and recommend checking it out. This story is perfect for those looking for something cute.

Losing My Breath by J. Rose Black, J. Rose Black

This story follows Callan who is a veteran and a grumpy next-door neighbor to Meridian who he’s attracted to from the start. Black is a good writer who promised a cute romance story. It’s a very fast-paced story so some of the cute or important scenes were cut short. I liked the setting and seeing two characters hang out at the gym or in their apartments. There were many conflicts in the story to keep it entertaining. I do wish the chapters/scenes laster longer than it did because it didn’t feel very sentimental at times it needed to be. This book is also told from just Callan’s pov but the pov was very hard to understand from the perspective it was written and there was too much inner dialogue going on that it made it sound like Joe from You.

Callan is the MMC of the story who deals with PTSD and wants to make sure everyone is safe. I saw a lot of red flags in this guy for some of the ways he would act. I didn’t like how rough he would act or he would often yell. I see he was a veteran but sometimes it was much. Meridian is the main side character and I really which we got her pov. I loved her character and wanted to know more about her. There were some other minor side characters but none that played big roles. The romance was good which has next-door neighbors and the instant love trope.

The ending was very fast and so much happens with a good HEA. I did have some minor issues with the book but it was a good, light read. I do wish the pacing was a bit slower but overall not so bad. I recommend checking this out if you want a veteran story with a next-door neighbor romance.

This is the second book in the Hott Springs Eternal series but each book could be read as a standalone. This story follows Shane who must have a celebrity wedding to save his sister’s business but the wedding he planned failed and now he needs to marry Ivy. I really enjoyed this story and have been waiting for it since book 1. Bell did really well with this book because I loved every moment of it. There was a lot of development, steam, and conflicts to keep the story really entertaining. The pacing was great and I loved seeing more of Springs Eternal and going to LA. I loved the cute moments in this book and finding easter eggs for the upcoming books. This story is told from both Shane and Ivy’s pov.

Shane is known as a player in Hollywood and trying to do a celebrity wedding is harder than he expected until he meets Ivy. I loved seeing him fall in love and seeing him develop after his past trauma. Ivy quit her Hollywood job but is still known but is focusing on helping theater kids. I loved her story and seeing her side of how Hollywood affected her but she wants to help the kids succeed. They were both just perfect for each other. There were many side characters in this book but mainly they were the same. The romance is fake dating and instant love and I loved the chemistry between the two. The connected they had was amazing and very steamy.

The ending was well done and I loved how cute it was. We also get an epilogue and a hint of what’s going to happen in the upcoming books which I’m super excited for. Bell is an incredible writer and I recommend checking out this book especially starting with the first one if you have time.

Welcome Home, Caroline Kline by Courtney Preiss

This story follows Caroline whose life just exploded and her dad injured himself so she must go back to Jersey Shore where she had to replace him in the softball league. This wasn’t a bad story but this is another one of the books where it’s categorized as romance but it’s women’s fiction. I enjoyed the meaning behind the book and seeing Caroline develop her story. Priess had a good writing story. I loved how descriptive the details were and how she explained the baseball part of the story. Though I did wish the story went a lot smoother as some scenes were cute short or were too long. The pacing was fast and this book is written from Caroline’s pov.

Caroline is the FMC of this story and I really enjoyed her character. At her age, her life is chaotic and she wants to find a place for herself but can’t. I love seeing her discover that part of herself and just seeing her grow. There were many side characters in this book and I mainly enjoyed Caroline’s friend who was sweet. There were also the parents who were very involved with the story and were entertaining. I thought this book would be a bit romance-heavy but it was not. The romance is very light and not the main focus even though the book is categorized as romance.

The romance was well done and I loved the ending for Caroline. She developed so much and found a place for herself in New Jersey. I enjoyed this story though I was expecting it to be a romance book but it was still a great read. I loved seeing the self-development even though the family was not too supporting. I recommend checking this book out if you want to read a young woman joining the men’s softball league and doing well.

This story follows Lucy who moves into an apartment with other roommates and meets a guy who she begins to develop feelings for. I enjoyed the storyline for this book. It was good but not entertaining all the way. This story was a bit tame with not many conflicts and being very light on the romance aspect. I did enjoy how the story was in London and seeing bits of it from Lucy’s pov. I loved the found family part of this story and seeing how they all treat each other. This story is only written in Lucy’s pov but would have loved to get Henry’s.

Lucy is the FMC of this book who works at a flower shop and wants to keep it open. I enjoyed her character and how willing she was to make sure the shop was running. I liked her development in this book. Then there is Henry who is supposed to be the main side character but I felt that he was MIA half of the story and wouldn’t consider him the main side lead. I wish he was more in the story or it would have been better to get pov. There are many other side characters in this book and I really liked them. The romance in this book is very light and the story felt more like women’s fiction. The romance is forced proximity and friends to lovers with some light make-out scenes.

The ending was good but with a cute HEA. The story wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t a memorable experience. For me I felt this story was promised something else but instead, we got something different. I did enjoy the found family and Lucy’s story and seeing them development in the story. Though I did wish there was more to the romance.

This Could Be Us by Kennedy Ryan

This story follows a woman who realizes her husband isn’t being faithful and now she has to keep the roof over her family’s head. A man begins to enter the picture but she doesn’t know if she could trust herself. I really enjoyed this book. This is the 2nd in the series but you don’t have to read the first book. I was hooked from the beginning of this book. Kennedy did an amazing job writing the story of a woman whose life changed in a second. The story shows woman’s power and I was all here for it. I do wish we got more of Soledad’s respect from the people. Kennedy handled the topics of autism, love, and betrayal so well. I learned so much from this story.

This book is told from Soledad and Judas’s pov. Soledad is recently divorced after a huge betrayal and must protect her family. I really enjoyed her character and seeing her develop and heal. She’s a wonderful role model who never gave up and I loved her for that. Then there is Judas who is such a sweetheart and knows that Soledad is the one for him. He’s supporting and never rushed Soledad. There are also many side characters in this book and most of them I absolutely loved. The romance is friends to lovers, forbidden love, and slow burn. This book had the slowest of the slow burn and let me tell you I waited so long for the couple to end up together. I understood that Soledad was healing but the tension and chemistry was high.

The ending was well done but towards the end, I kind of kind got a bit bored of the story. The book felt very long since it dealt with a lot of healing and the romance was rushed at the end. I think the book should have been a bit shorter but that’s just my perspective. Overall, I really enjoyed the story and recommend checking it out.
