This is my second read from this author and I am going to officially declare myself a Moïra Fowler-Doyle fan. I love how she blends Irish culture with fantasy elements.

This is a spooky story that I couldn’t put down. I loved every second of it and the mystery was really intriguing. It was definitely a unique way to tell a story. I loved it.

I wanted to give this book more stars, I really did. Because I did find myself unable to put it down. However, I felt like some of the details in the story telling, especially some of more sensitive manner including mental health, were handled rather clumsily. Not to mention, the ending left me feeling conflicted because I felt the conclusion wasn’t sufficient. Like it was rushed maybe? It was good, but could have been better.

I basically read this in one sitting and LOVED IT. It’s a unique story and it’s rare that a graphic novel sticks with me for so long but I still think about it 4 months later. Definitely check it out. It has a great message too.

I think this book is good. I don’t love it though. I love the characters and the world. But the writing is what gets me. I definitely feel like there is WAY TOO MUCH fluff in the writing. It kind of makes it hard to get through. I know some people like that sort of detail, which is totally fine. Personally I don’t enjoy it. It makes the story drag which is probably why it’s taken me 10+ years to read through this whole series. And I’ve yet got one more book to go...

This book was a nice surprise for what I expected to be the same old rehash of a overdone fairytale. It wasn’t though! I throughly enjoyed the character building and a Cinderella type story that didn’t focus on Ella, but her sister. And fate. And how choices can change the course of life itself. It was good!

It was meh. I liked some of the characters but I didn’t feel like the story was anything spectacular.

This was really a 2.5 star for me. I bumped it to 3 because the writing was well done in certain parts and there were quite a few quotes I tabbed to come back to.

Overall, I didn’t love it but didn’t hate it. Near the end I honestly lost interest though and was just trying to get through it since I had made it like 85% through.

Possible spoilers:
My biggest complaint about this story was the weird “twist” at the end. It felt like for most of the book that the story was headed in a direction, then BAM we hit a brick wall that was meant to be the plot twist you didn’t see coming but I don’t think it landed the way the author intended. Hear me out. I can see where this was supposed to be a shock and like “woah, I thought we were reading this specific genre I’m so surprised” but it just didn’t work for me. It felt more like near the end the author decided this story was going to be too generic paranormal so let’s just try to shock the readers by going in a completely unrelated direction. I’ve never read anything quite like it and I think there must be a reason for that? The plot twist also weirdly made me care less about the characters and where they story was going at the point.

Definitely spoilers:
I am so annoyed that I spent MOST of this book becoming invested in characters and their back stories just to find out they are simulated? Like what the hell was I even reading? I still don’t know.
