Very intentionally cinematic, this whole book feels like a late 90s/early 2000s thriller movie and I really really liked it.
It's definitely up there as one of my favorite of Riley Sager's twists.

So I didn't love this one as much as The Only One Left or Last Time I Lied, but definitely enjoyed it.
It captured a lot of the feel of the 90s, especially suburbia, with just how free it felt being a kid able to explore around your neighborhood while also having parents that really didn't want you to but couldn't come up with a better reason than "because I said so" and were mad about it.
The true crime and supernatural angles were so well woven in that I wanted to believe both, and I'm getting better at figuring out some of Riley's ways of twisting the story but not all (in a good way).

All right the writing was beautiful, but I actually skimmed like the second half because it's just so so so slow and I just couldn't do it.
There's not really a plot, but it does flashback between when she started to be a vampire and where she's at now, but there wasn't a ton of action in either storyline really.

This series is officially better than it has any right to be. This wraps it all up nicely, and really not in the way I was expecting it to.
As much as I hadn't thought I would, this is definitely a recommended series.

And they just keep getting better.
Very much enjoying where the story is going, and as we get more and more of these characters I'm just increasingly impressed with the complexity. I never would have thought from book 1 that we'd be here.

It's starting to drive me crazy that these are separate books, because they really would save so much time on the recap parts and just keep the story going.
That said, this one got bumped up because so much more of the overall story is starting to come into play, and it's really better than I expected. With them all being so short, I expected it to feel choppier and more sudden. It is going quickly, but way more smoothly.

Another quick read, only this time you get way more of the characters and really start to understand them.
It's fun watching this relationship progress where it can even though it does feel super doomed.

Reading because Heather (@heaths.bookclub on insta) said so, and I do like the dynamic here. Of course the serial killer falls for the pretty boy FBI agent!
This was also super short, and not quite as spicy as I'd have expected, so was a nice little step out of my reading slump cave.

Definitely not my favorite of hers. I figured out the twist about a third of the way in, and from there it felt like I didn't have much book left (it's short to begin with) but it was dragging so much.
The premise was excellent, I think the characters are where the struggles came in. They should have been strong, based on descriptions, but in actuality as the story played out it was more like just different names applied to the same character rather than anything distinct.

Honestly I think I'm done with this one. Gave it a solid chance and just cannot get into it - it's just sooooo slow and nothing is making me care about any of the characters.
