i'm a sucker for slice-of-life stories, so this was a much-appreciated little addition to the atlas six :) nico and libby are the best frenemies ever <3

i have some gripes with the writing, but i gotta say, i became absolutely obsessed with this universe, the characters, and the plot. i thought i would finish the first book and lose interest, but i definitely need to read the rest of the series! i mean, with an ending like that, how could you not want more?

I had to read this book for my college English class (our theme this semester is authenticity and we are focusing heavily on online spaces) and I unironically ended up LOVING it. Please read this book and/or give any young gamer girls in your life a copy. It's adorable and super inspiring. Not to mention the illustrations are gorgeous!

interesting concept but the meaning is all lost once you realise that this book isn’t taken from any real diary and was only used to scare teens away from drugs. i do like reading first person POV and the story was interesting until it became outlandish so i’ll give it some props. but at the end of the day this book is just propaganda, isn’t it?

i am SO MAD at this book bc it was incredibly boring and hard to get through but has the most insane and interesting plot twist in the last five pages!?!!? it’s like the opposite of getting blue-balled if that makes sense. honestly idk if i can recommend it but if you like what you hear in a plot summary i would say go for it. i did also think the annotations were a super interesting way to present the story from different perspectives and reading them was my favourite part of the book.

i think i would have enjoyed this book a lot more if i had read it back in in middle or high school... lol. ned vizzini's books would absolutely be in my future classroom library :) that being said, i still really like this story and the characters in it! especially michael, he's definitely my favorite. as someone who was somewhat familiar with the musical it was also really cool to experience the source material. might just have to go re-listen to the soundtrack now...

i wish i didn’t relate to craig so much but vizzini (rest in peace) paints such a relatable picture of mental health and hospitalisation and it definitely made me feel so seen! the main conflict resolution is a bit hilarious but i love it. i definitely recommend this to any teens/young adults who have struggled with mental health and need something lighthearted to relate to; i would definitely re-read it myself :)

as a queer hockey fan this book sounded perfect for me- and it absolutely was! the characters were very well developed and lovable and all of the subplots tied together very nicely to form one beautiful, captivating story. the universe that graziadei has created with this book is so immersive and i would love to see more stories set in it. something i did not expect, but definitely appreciated, was how deeply some of the issues talked about in the book resonated with me. i love how much i ended up relating to mickey. the romance (which is definitely super adorable) is not the main/only plot but instead works alongside the other plots in the book and there are no heavily explicit scenes- all things i appreciate. i was very pleasantly surprised with just how much i ended up enjoying this book and i cannot recommend it enough!

i absolutely loved this book. kaysen’s writing is super enjoyable to read and her stories contain the perfect amount of humor and relatability while still being meaningful and thought-provoking. hearing her accounts of what she went through made me feel incredibly seen and i’m so thankful she chose to share them with the world in such a beautiful way.
