I don't know if it's because i so confused on The Cruel Prince (which is also revered as an enemies to lovers, but didn't feel like it to me) or if this was an actually well written book, but i really liked this one!

The setting kind of reminded me of the show "The originals" which is kind of a vampire/witch show (i only watched 5 episodes so don't quote me on anything). The witches can't practice magic or be killed and they get their power from their ancestors. There's a church, and there's even a mention of a werewolf! (No vampires that i know if though)

I'd say 3.5 or 3.75 on stars, but we'll round up. Some parts didn't make sense to me (Like how they figured out who their relatives were so easily) or why the Prince came with them on the trip?, but the romance part and some of the tensions, i did like. I've never read a witch vs witch hunter book before, but i thought it was pretty good.

It was pretty predictable and the whole "forced together" so they fall in love was silly, but the fanfiction-lover in me didn't care, lol. Easy writing for sure (except for the french parts, which kind of annoyed me a bit. i don't know French so i had to google translate everytime, lol), but part of the reason why i didn't like it 100% was because it switches between Reid and Lou a lot so i would get confused AND i didn't like the big litty jokes. (i love sex jokes, they just didn't land for me)

Spoilers here:

I seriously don't understand why Beau was there. I also don't understand how the witches were all there and yet everyone escaped? Yes, the Chassers showed up, but Reid's mom was saved and Lou was saved. The only person who really died was the Archbishop and thats because Reid did it.

Speaking of Reid's mom and Lou's dad. They figured that out so easily? Like, just because they have the same eyes? I have brown eyes like the guy across the street, but he isn't my dad! Well, he shouldn't be anyways, i just met him last week, and he's younger than me.

I hope there's a purpose for the ring in the sequel, because otherwise why put it in there.

Still a good read, IMO.

This book is the bane of my existence.

I hated how I ignored the life around me just so i could finish it. I didn't do any errands, i ignored my friends, anything. It didn't matter. Nothing mattered but what happened next with Feyre and the Night Court. It was very much page turner for me. And I enjoyed every second.

I actually rated the 1st book 4/5, i liked it, but i wasn't super in love with it. I could have just not completed the series and felt fine. A lot of booktok was like "if you could read a series over again, which would it be" and i thought, "well, maybe this series isn't for me." It just so happened that I was on the ACOTAR subreddit the other day and one person said, well, the 2nd book is considered the best, give that a try. I didn't have anything to lose, so i did.

And man, am i glad i listened. This explained so many of the "holes" i didn't understand in the 1st book.
-Why does Rhysand want to do a stupid bargain in the first place?
-Why would the high face all participate to bring her back (they seemed too selfish to do so)?
-Why did i feel like Feyre have Stockholm syndrome? (And i LOVEEE beauty and the beast Disney version so it's not just the idea of being locked up)
-Why does Tamlin seem so freaking passive?

I had thought, it's a good action retelling of Beauty and the Beast. The ending was pretty good, but it's okay. Don't know why everyone keeps giving it a 1000/10. Now that i've read this book (and now am in the middle of reading the 3rd), I am realizing why. This series took it to a whole next level. It had action, adventure, a lot of romance, friendship, and intrigue. Even the parts that i could predict were still so well written that i didn't care.

Spoilers begin:

A lot of ppl did say that the word "mate" was brought up too much. I didn't think so. It just felt like she was saying "husband" besides, i have lot of friends who got engaged and after that they would throw in "fiance" every chance they got. They were happy and the next level in their relationship. I admittedly and unabashedly love the idea of mates, because who doesn't like the idea that you're destined for someone? I hate picking the wrong guy IRL, but how do you know since mates don't exist for real? LET ME LIVE. I did think the word "snarled" happened a lot more. What does a Snarl sound like, anyway?

The ending gutted me. I hate cliff hangers for the sake of cliff hangers, but it was done perfectly. I didn't feel robbed. I just felt sad at the decision that Feyre had to make.

When i finished the 1st book, i thought Tamlin was nice and Rhysand was a dick so why is the YA Community saying Rhysand is the best? And now? Now I know why everyone stans Rhysand. He's everything i need in my life. No relationship will ever be as perfect as him. I hope the 3rd book is just as good :)

It's about 1o pages long so it only took me about 5 minutes to read.

Is this even considered a novella?

It's cute, sweet. Super predictable. Nice for the Maxon fans out there, but writing wasn't the best.
