A sober look at the way America is and has always been. It is the most complete look at why we are where we are and exactly how we got here.

Anyone of the chapters could, and probably have been, extrapolated into a 1000 page essay.

There is room for nuance not present in the book, but the book doesn’t suffer for it. For me, there are plenty of moments of “Holy Shit, how did we let this happen?”

I highly recommend it.
