This was too melodramatic and cringy. The story itself is so unrealistic and filled with vomit inducing “deep” conversations no teenagers would have. Also, very predictable plot. I don’t believe for one second the justification of Poppy cutting contact with Rune without saying a word, it was just added to the plot to justify Rune turning into an angry, emo teenager (which added nothing to the story and was resolved by just being around Poppy again). And don’t get me started on Rune the “norwegian” guy whose only Norwegian vocabulary consists of saying “ja” constantly. Also the name Rune? Absolutely horrendous. Meanwhile the rest of his family have names that could’ve been picked out of a fantasy book lmao. Lastly, the writing was so simple and uninteresting it felt like I could’ve written this book in middle school.

This was my favourite book ten years ago. I still like it but not as much as before. It’s funny and quick to read

It was okay. Didn’t need five whole pages describing puke that’s for sure

Isn’t it a bit cringy that he’s walking around shirtless all the time? Like they’re in a life-or-death situation and I’m reading about how the romantic interest has a problem with shirts? Also don’t care about the “teasing” and “almost-fucking but never actually getting there” vibe. Again, they’re in a life-threatening scenario, am I supposed to believe they’re both horn dogs who’s mostly concerned with each other, and not the people trying to kill them?  I’ll buy the second one to see what happens and to see if I enjoy the plot and writing more than I did with this one but if that doesn’t convince me I just don’t think I’m the target audience for these types of books 😅

So dramatic for no reason, they could’ve just talked to each other and not jumped down each other’s throats every time they tried to communicate. It didn’t even feel like teenage melodrama, just stupidity. Other than that it was okay

I really liked this book. The only thing I had a problem with was the translation, it was very cringy. Didn’t quite capture the vibe of the 80’s, just sounded like a weird boomer trying to describe things in a “cool” way, but Norwegian doesn’t sound cool, especially not in this context

Honestly this graphic novel lost me at “my gender identity today is bad puns” but I still decided to give it a shot. The personification of most characters seemed to rely solely on their sexuality or their gender identity. I know nothing about the main character except that she’s insecure and attracted to women, I know nothing of her friend Chet except that they’re excitable and attracted to men and I know nothing of Selena except that she’s bossy and attracted to women… you get the point. Also, what was the motivation behind the evil master plan? Why did the villain want magic gone? Why did he need everyone to be normal? Was his motivation just being a straight white guy? Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if that was it, and the novel didn’t point to anything else being the cause 😂

Yeah this was not for me. The artwork was pretty though
